Damn you. You made me want to switch my lens now as well.
Still using a 18-55mm kit lens from the EOS 350D I bought back in 2005, it’s fine when I forget about it and just use that overly-expensive camera (back then I paid €750) for holiday snapshots. But then I want to go all fancy and it just goes “blurrp”.
I might actually just get a new camera altogether. The shutter count is probably at around 50k right now and at high speed (1/150s) it starts to take black photos from time to time. Also, the ISO only goes up to 1600 and at that level it’s super noisy, about as noisy as a modern-day Nikon at 12k ISO.
A Nikon D3100 with a f2.8 lens would be neat (and maybe an 18-105 lens for medium-range zooms for the odd time I need it).

I’m upgrading my body soon as well, do a semi-modern D300.
