And in another 5 years you’ll be listening to Knitlilumba Ratatoritu played over bluegrass and telling people that you used to listen to Chu Ishikawa played over mariachi music because you thought it made you better than all the other kids that listened to metal.

listening to anything exclusively is dumb as fuck

my main musical taste is Metal\rock but I I have unending love for Orchestral music and Piano

i’m not gonna start listing all the genres i listen to

i guess rock in general is what i listen to most

I really don’t like most recorded music without crunchy sounding guitars and pounding drums. There are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

Live music is an entirely different animal. So long as the musicians know how to play, I can watch almost anything live.

I like various kinds of metal and rock, folk and bluegrass, and have been listening to a lot of trip hop.

I’ve been into instrumental/orchestral-rock remixes of other songs lately. David Garrett, Bond, Escala…that sort of thing.

Like this, for example.

Same here. A majority of the shit around Washington DC sucks now… I had to resort to playing music off of a device instead of listening to the radio because it’s… just… so… bad…

To add on, the only radio station I’ve EVER enjoyed totally was one near Harrisonburg, VA. It played hard rock and metal the entire time I was in range.

Although a majority of it is rock & metal, there’s a few… hell I don’t know what genre to put them into…
Some of the songs I listen to:
Slipknot’s People=Shit - This is the only song on my play list that I consider true metal.
One of Soundgarden’s latest, Live to Rise - Rock.
The Offspring’s You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid - Dunno, I’m assuming rock.
Avenged Sevenfold’s latest - Carry On - Hard Rock.
Beyond that I have some classics, and some rap-metal bands (such as Limp Bizkit & P.O.D.). Currently my playlist is around 4 gigs.

if anyone is actually interested, here is (almost) every piece of music I own (not including pirating :p): https://www.discogs.com/collection?user=EzraZebra&layout=med

Anything metal/rock related can be made or broken by the vocals for me.

The shit I hate the most is when a metal band tries to look deep by switching back and forth between “HURRR BRUTAL” and “oh no my mommy doesn’t like me waaah” in a single song.

like Metallica’s Unforgiven ?

btw here’s a talented young guy from around here that I think you might enjoy listening to

I hate that. Stuff like Killswitch Engage and a lot of other metaly bands do that and it sounds pretty terrible. Some bands manage to switch between growling and clean well, I would say Opeth would be one off the top of my head, but the type of clean singing that Killswitch Engage does in their songs doesn’t fit.

Metalcore sucks ass, I also hate that pitchshifted fuckness Pornogrind/Goregrind but Death Metal and Grindcore is totally rad
but I also like punk, hard rock, classic rock, etc
not every metal is a guttural clusterfuck
try Judas Priest, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Motorhead, Accept…

How the fuck do you classify that as ‘‘clean vocals’’?

I wasn’t reference my earlier posts, just posting some stuff I liked because a lot of people said they didn’t like metal. Just seeing if they had any opinion on any of those or even if they liked them. But here’s Daughters that I was talking about who are classified as grindcore but have clean vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DdBT1MFpCE

Edit: I have found that I do like some metalcore though. I like Hatebreed a lot.

that is…wierd as fuck
try some Unseen Terror, no death metal, just blast beats
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKt8ZY2enPA
and I really don’t think that is grindcore at all

I’ve yet to understand why people don’t like D.M. vocals

Fuck core

My music folder is 3.14Gb (~300 songs) and I literally cannot listen to anything else. It’s horrible. The only upside is that the music that I do enjoy only gets better for me the more I listen to it.
That said I do occasionally find a new band to add to my folder but that’s usually after spending hours upon hours scouring forums. I kind of envy the people who can just turn on the radio and enjoy themselves.

Eh, it’s listed as mathcore/grindcore/noisecore on last.fm. I mean most forms of metal have subtle instrumental differences between them so it’s entirely possible to have instrumental death metal and black metal, it’s just kind of weird. And it’s not that I don’t like death metal vocals, I like Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Opeth, as well as lots of black metal. I just would like to find more with clean vocals because it’s easy to find those with dm vocals but not necessarily without them.

Kim Jong needs to settle down.

ok, did you enjoy Unseen Terror?
