I lost my backup saves for skyrim :frowning: did I screw up or do folders in the Saves folder get deleted sometimes? :stuck_out_tongue:

Shit happens. I decided to do a clean reinstall and mod some of the esp files to tailor toward what I wanted to do (mostly integrate them into SkyRE).

Chrome Canary has decided to crash on startup today. Looks like I have to use Chrome Stable and not use any of my extensions that I knowingly installed because I’m not a fucking moron.

Is it possible that the steam cloud sync messed them up somehow?

no, because [censored]

I probably just deleted the folder like a dumbass (i noticed it was gone like 2 minutes after I emptied the recycle bin)

I accidentally deleted my first Skyrim character at about level 50. Since then, I’ve been very obsessive about making multiple saves and backups.

Speaking of (kind of) Bethesda games, I want to play New Vegas, but due to mods I have installed, I have to use the New Vegas Script Extender and the 4GB Patch executable.

These two are, of course, designed to be compatible. And they were. Except now, on my fresh install, the 4GB patch doesn’t recognize NVSE, so it opens the original NV launcher - causing a crash if I try to use it due to the mods I have installed.
If I bypass the 4GB patch by using NVSE directly instead, it works fine - for 5 minutes or so, then it runs out of memory and crashes.
I can only find one solution online, which is to run the game normally first then try the 4GB patch again, and it doesn’t fix a damn thing.

God damn it.

I stopped playing Fallout 3 about 1 mission into Broken Steel because I was getting CTDs almost constantly. I haven’t played Skyrim in a while for similiar reasons, as well as a bug that made everyone in Markarth invincible, including that forsworn guy you have to kill when you first visit.

I guess a certain amount of bugginess is to be expected when your game is that open, but even so…

Fallout 3 locked up and I had to force it to shutdown quite a few times, but it’s overall been playable for me.

Jif, could it possibly be some version difference in whatever version of NVSE you have and what the mods you’re using require? I don’t know anything out NV mods, but that’s a thought I guess.

Do you use the unofficial patches? They do a good job of cleaning up many of the bugs.

Got the latest version of NVSE, and these are all the same versions I was using on my old install. It’s just weird, I guess.
I did manage to get the 4GB launcher to open NVSE with the launcher somehow, and was able to play for half an hour before it ran out of memory - I doubt it’s working the way it’s supposed to, but I guess I should be glad it works at all.

And then damn it all, Veronica dies from radscorpions on our way to Hidden Valley.

I’m getting infinite loading screen when I try to enter Solstheim :frowning:

fixed with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/?

I just realized with the amount of shit I know about electronics, I should start charging for the shit I have to share and to help people build their fucking computers.

I had a lengthy discussion about it with two people I know and I just realized I know FAR more about it than the average layman who just games for fun vs someone who’s a hardcore gamer (such as myself or some of us on this forum).

Honestly, an observation on my part is all it is really. I had a lengthy discussion about it with two random people I met and befriended inside of a class I’m taking this time, when I came to this realization, as they didn’t know shit or only had superficial knowledge versus what I know.

I did. In this case it was a crash in one particular area of the first mission of Broken Steel. Since you had to go there to complete the mission, I just kind a gave up. I’d already beat the main quest and all the other DLCs anyway.

You should also clean your plugins with Tes5edit if you haven’t already.

Bur’s right. It’ll help with stability if you clean some of the mods. TesVEdit is fairly easy to use. I’ve actually been using it to tweak some of the mods to fix some mistakes that were left behind by the mod makers themselves.

I hate going into the fucking city. I have to take the bus tomorrow because there isn’t nay parking anywhere near the location I’m going to, and I left all the paperwork I need at the office which is just going to add more time onto my day…

grr, I’m trying to use an existing plugin in skyrim creation kit, but it keeps telling me “multiple masters selected” (and no, I’m not selecting more than one master)

Use TESVEdit to edit it vs the creation kit. It’s FAR easier to use, believe me.

The only thing you’d want to use the creation kit for is compiling papyrus scripts or (in some cases) packing BSAs.
