Actually, come to think of it my first experience was with F.E.A.R. on minimum on my piece of shit FX5200 card (Decent enough card for most things, it could run HL2 on medium, but F.E.A.R. is a graphics hog) had a pretty crazy framerate at times. But it STILL scared the crap out of me.
back in the day we used to play cs on 10 fpms if we were lucky
kids these days
Yeah, I’m from the same days-- nothing was cooler than staring at a wall in TFC and having the framerate go up to 16.
Oldest OS was a Windows 3.1 computer. Can’t even remember if I had any games for it. Most of my early PC titles were for Window 98 2nd Ed. Kinda wish I’d been able to get a framerate ticker for the original Rainbow Six at the time…
I love computers that had an actual switch for the power, instead of a button.
But I guess that love belongs in another thread…
Don’t forget the Turbo button.
The light switch goes to the power on my computer, so that’s kind of the same.
“It is now safe to turn off your computer.”
But this is the rage thread, not the nostalgia thread.
Rayman Origins, Modern Warfare 3, Sonic Generations, Jurassic Park, Arkham City… It’s going to be one tough month for my wallet.
You forgot Skyrim.
Ah yes… I ehm… Forgot Skyrim.
I actually never played any of the Elder Scrolls games, not sure whether I should give Skyrim a go in that case.
anything under 120FPS looks like shit to me
after you’ve seen a true 120hz monitor, you never go back
Fuck I want two of those so I can do something while I play something while I eat something
true multitasking for bros
I actually only have crappy 60hz monitors, but at least there are two.
My grandpa has a 120hz tv and I watched a few shows on it with its motion something or other that makes it look like it’s running at a higher framerate. I liked it a lot.
It would be nice to get a true 120Hz or higher monitor though, so I wouldn’t have to turn vsync on so often.
What the… Should really get my ID sorted out, so I decided to get up early to head down to the town hall before work… Turns out they’re not open on account of it being a bank holiday… The day after the real bank holiday. Bastards took the weekend off, took the 31st off (not a bank holiday), then the 1st of November (bank holiday) and then the 2nd (not a bank holiday). And the rest of the week they’re only available between 9 and 12 in the morning.
I want one of those jobs.
Have you played the demo? As a fan of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, I would not recommend the modern sonic levels. When they’re sidescrolling they’re fine, but when the camera switches behind Sonic, they suck.
So probably about 25% (judging by the demo) is going to be complete suck.
I was under the impression that you had the choice to play the game as either classic or modern, not have some weird mix between the two…
The demo lets you choose, NFC if the full version does. Classic levels are all side scrolling, modern levels seem to be a mixture of sidescrolling and, IMO, badly done camera-behind-Sonic segments. I say try the demo if you can.
It’s not the camera angles, it’s the lack of accuracy in the controls. SA1 and 2 both had that happen occasionally, but in the level in the demo, it happened every time the camera angle moved away from side scrolling.
