The Passing

I haven’t seen a thread for it yet.

It’s out, and I’m sure I’m not the only one on here who’s played it through.

Your thoughts?

I thought it was fun, but it was seem the nodes are fucked up, I attacked a witch, and instead of chasing me, it ran full pelt to my right and ran around in circles.

It also doesn’t seem as well optimized as the rest of the game, as I normally get around 50-60 fps constant, I was getting 25-35 fps throughout.

I was also kind of depressed when I found the, for courtesy of not spoiling who it is, other survivor’s corpse with an M-16 on it at the end.

So, share your thoughts, etc.

Looks awesome, as per usual. Unfortunately I probably won’t be able to play it till friday, but it will be a good day. Also, I think everyone knows who dies.

Yeah, I figured everyone knew Bill died. I was shocked, I was looking around during the finale for a new weapon, and saw the highlighted M-16, so I ran up, saw the beret and him slumped against a turbine, and was all “Well that’s depressing…”

I’d also like to say that I didn’t much like the encounter with the original survivors.

I am currently redownloading the game b/c the passing wasn’t on my game.
Its taking forever b/c the network administrator is a bandwidth hog streaming Ultraman to his Blue-ray player

Well it’s the same L4D2 quality it seems. But the whole thing seemed kinda meh for me. I don’t know why.

I’m sorry, but…this sucked…I thought l4d1 peeps would be playing with l4d2 peeps…whata screw up. made us wait half a year!

I enjoyed it. I really liked the sewer, the dark and creepy atmosphere was a nice addition that wasn’t really captured as well in other L4D levels.

I agree, the survivors interactions were a bit bland. I was expecting it to be a little more constant, but only got 2 short bursts of it. I also assumed Bill would dying during the campaign, not before.

Good thing is, a new DLC for L4D is supposed to come out that will explain why this mess exists.

Or ruin what little was good about it.

I haven’t tested it yet, but are the m60 and golf club available in the other campaigns yet?

Also, did anyone else catch that Dead Rising reference written on the wall?

I don’t think thats actually possible.

^this is true.

but honestly, i don’t know why so many people are angry/upset about this.

i only see 2 valid reasons(fps and technical problems/lack of survivor interactions) but other than those i don’t see whats wrong. it was the same high quality l4d action, the new weapons were nice and it actually had some great moments. there’s no way players could play cross games, and the title the passing was a pretty obvious hint someone was gonna get kilt. i thought it brought the games plots together great. i know that it seemed kinda short but it was free and it had more of the game play that valve is known for. you wouldn’t complain if someone handed you a 20$ bill just because it had some sharpie ink on it would you?

and honestly i haven’t had any technical problems yet, so that one could just be a case by case problem

He has a point. Any complaints are really pointless, because either it was free, or on the X-Box, and you should have known not to do that.

Well you’re disappointed because you fail at comprehensive reading then. I think it was clear to 99% of the L4D community that they would be NPCs… Especially with Valve saying that they’re NPCs.

I like some of the new features. New weapons are always welcome, the new UCI are pretty neat, the footlockers don’t really make much sense but are awesome for annoying people with Ellis’ use adrenaline vocalize, and the levels seem much less linear, like some of the portions of the Crash Course DLC for L4D1.

Definitely disappointed by Bill’s death and the ending…I would have felt a little bit better if I at least got to watch him die. Hell, it would have been better if the player characters had a vocalize line or two near his corpse. The ending scavenge portion was kind of tough but only because we split up. We finished it the first go on Advanced which is unusual for L4D2 campaigns.

Not bad, not amazing…just more L4D2 basically. Hopefully we get to see how Bill dies at the end of the new L4D1 campaign…

Ah well, glad Louis didn’t die.

Louis is a God.

Yeah, I saw it.

I also liked how the “FUCKING” was crossed out on the wall and people were saying stuff like “There’s no need for language like that.” and the like.

I did enjoy the many different paths you can take to get from point A to point B.

But this breaks all the rules about token black people. I’m going to write and complain.

:3

Honestly though, a God? Not heinously irritating?
