The Old Black Mesa Site

For those of you who are interested, I’ve entered the Black Mesa domain into the Wayback Machine and it came up with quite a few results. This is for those didn’t get a chance to see the old website and also for those who miss it.

CAUTION: Some of the links in these archives will not work.

I found this quite interesting.

I can’t open 'em :frowning:

I think some of them worked for me, others didn’t.

It brings a tear to my eye looking back at the ol’ BM site. Those were the days. :’(

The flash version of the site gave me a wonderful first impression of the mod

glad i stayed with it

Sorry for not knowing this, but may I ask: when the site got deleted, why wasn’t it possibly to just simply re-upload it? I don’t know much about servers and I wouldn’t mind if someone could explain this! Thanks.

There were several crashes in the BM server history, in fact IIRC BM has been hosted at 3 different places before: twice on the Leak-Free servers, then the GN servers and now their own server. The last crash (which affected the GN site and the BM site) was totally catastrophic, the last available backup was over a year old.

Pretty much killed GN

Flash is irrelevant.

However its absence is still perfectly fine as an argument for why the iPad is retarded.

jQuery’s where the party’s at!
And HTML 5

What a shame.

Please, tell my clients this.

Rich, our first web designer, has put a copy of the site up on his website, for posterity’s sake. If there are problems with the one on the wayback machine, check it out here.

Takes me back.

oh wow! yeah baby that is awesome!

I dunno why everyone says flash is icky. I love how it feels on my skin. brb. gonna go play on that old site.

:jizz:

flash is to the internet what neon lights are to the performance of a car.

I wish I had known those days :frowning: I only heard about the mod in 2007 and only registered in September 2008.

EDIT: Holy shit 666 messages :fffuuu:

I still LOVE the music that plays on the old site, such an epic tune.

I remember that site. Damn; 2006?! Where does the time go?

haha i remember the old flash site

personally i prefer the current one

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
