The Massive Friggin' Xen Thread

Yeah, think of the current Black Mesa as a pre-release to calm the fans. The final release isn’t actually out yet, when it does come, it’ll be on Steam.

I don’t think they’d make us pay for it. Seems kinda odd in my opinion.

They won’t make us pay for it. Black Mesa is and always will be free.
And they couldn’t legally charge even if they wanted to.

I’ve been absent for a while, so don’t rape my ass if this has already been asked…

Is there any update on Xen? Have the devs emerged from their well deserved slumber?

Yes, it was “when it’s done” now it’s at an unknown point that’s definitely not now, perhaps in the future.
So the update is that there’s no update.

Thanks

No problem, once there’s something about Xen, you will definitely find articles about it on most gaming websites that are something worth

Black Mesa is free, but Xen will cost extra :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi, I’ve been out of the loop ever since the release of BM and I was wondering how far the Xen chapter is now. Could anyone give me a quick status update?

Status: It’s not done yet. That’s all we know. Any progress reports are hindered by an NDA that the dev team has signed.

Isn’t Xen already started at 2009? << stated by Raminator somewhere
So Xen must be heavily redone especially with those displacements.
Xen also has green fog and a planet core <<< (in game files, env_skybox.pcf)

The teleporter scene was heavily cut down for the first release. Will the things cut from there to keep Xen secret return for the final game?

…Let me guess, NDA?

I remember one of them stating they won’t add that back even in full release, it’s pointless after all.

Raminator said no a long time ago.

It’d be nice if it were to return - it’s a pretty iconic scene.

What’s different about it?

The bullsquid bathing in pool scene is missing…

Oh that, silly me. I was thinking of the Lambda Teleporter the whole time.

Let’s ask Text to do Anomalous Materials Uncut when Xen is done! XP

Fuck, I’ll add it back in if no one else does. Compared to my current work on my mod, the more scripted nature of AM would make it easier to add back in a quick Xen themed area in the vein of the original sequence in HL.
