The Local Version of a Headcrab?

The other day, I came across information about a specific parasite, called Sacculina, that essentially latches onto certain crabs and rewires them, changing behavior, physical appearance and essential converting the crab in question into a vehicle for the parasite, or zombie. It seems to remind me quite a bit of the behavior of Headcrabs and the way they take over human bodies for their own means of survival (Unless there is a crowbar lying around).

What do you guys think?

freaky

Yeah I’ve heard of these, although I believe the Half Life headcrab was actually based upon those parasitic wasps that zombify caterpillars.

Like these?

Thats some nasty shit right there.

That is exactly why I hate insects and arachnids so much.

Everything with no spine and more than 4 limbs needs to die in a very large fire.

“Yo dawg I heard u like headcrabs so we got u a crab that headcrabs a crab so u can get crabs when u get head”

sorry thats the first thought i had about this

My sentiments exactly. KILL THE INVERTEBRATES.

Wasn’t there some form of wasp that does the exact same thing except with ants?

Half life is fucking real!

That’s some freaky shit ese. Kind of like chestbursters in Alien.

whoaw. Marc laidlaw used things in the real world as inspiration for Half-Life. get outta here!

Oh wow, I never even noticed that. Nice catch.

I like how the Combine Advisors resemble parasitic worms. Fitting.

At least they don’t have those scary tounges, or do they…?

hawt

…nope.

Scarred for life, unless you show me an image of the worm the Advisor is based on :awesome:

omg

Hah.
