The Last Film You Saw.

Chain Reaction. Not even Morgan Freeman’s epicness could save this movie. Nonsensical plot, laugh-out-loud cheesy soundtrack, Keanu’s non-acting…just a confusing mess.

It actually makes more sense on repeat viewings. It’s not a good movie, but not completely worthless either. It’s in that middle ground og mediocrity.

The Dark Knight rises. It was fine.

A question though:

[minor spoilers] why did the “bomb” have a timer? wasn’t it supposed to be an unstable core that would blow by itself after an inexact number of days?[/spoilers]

I’m pretty sure I understood what the plot was supposed to be, I just don’t think it was good. The character’s thought processes and motivations especially bother me. A pretty big chunk of the movie was predicated on a strange decision -
[SPOILERS]
[COLOR=‘Black’]that Keanu and the girl would run from the cops. I mean, if you’re being framed for a crime, and you know that you didn’t do it, and the worst thing you have to suspect is being arrested, why the hell would you run like you were guilty? Just seems like a stupid plot point to pad a TV show episode into a movie.
[/SPOILERS]
Perhaps the rest of the movie could be explained satisfactorily, but I don’t feel like giving it another watch. Although that hilarious synth-guitar noise does beg for a youtube search at least lol

Because Nolan dug himself into a plot hole and wasn’t quite sure how to resurface.

It’s inexact if the timer is based on a pseudorandom number and nobody checks it. Maybe it sat in a bizarre gravitational field, making elapsed time uncertain to outside observers.

Also, thanks for spoiling the movie… :frowning:

I agree. that part of it does hurt to watch because most people with half a brain wouldn’t do that. But if on repeat viewings you assume they had a better reason for running from the cops, the rest of the movie becomes a little more enjoyable.

Just a little…

there shouldn’t have been any timers on the bomb because it wasn’t exactly a bomb. It was something taken out from a reactor that was supposed to become unstable and explode after an uncertain amount of days.

This is very minor stuff. I didn’t even tell you that batman dies in the end!

I like that even though the timer had been going for months, there was still the cliché last second bomb rescue.

The more I think about that movie, the more I hate it.

The more I think about you the more I hate you.

Working as intended

I guess the last movies I saw were Puss In Boots and Jackie Chan’s The Master. Puss was ok, but The Master wasn’t even really a Chan movie. It’s about a 16 year old boy that is obsessed with Jackie and trying to meet him, at the detriment of the rest of his life, even getting him kidnapped and held hostage. I didn’t finish watching it, it was so dumb.

Saw Bernie. I may be a bit partial to it since I’m from Texas, but I thought it was great. Great acting, great humor, an interesting story, and a style of storytelling that felt refreshing despite the fact it’s been done before.

Also, and I know this has probably been said her before, but Nolan films aren’t much about plot - they’re about spectacle and they’re about emotional connections. The plot, while full of cliches and contrivances, is solid for the most part, and mainly serves as a framework on which to build characters and create set pieces. So, what is happening and how is less interesting than who’s doing it, why, and how other characters feel and react. And about how cool it looks. I’m not saying the plot couldn’t or shouldn’t have been better, but I think the movie as a whole works quite well and the mistakes it does have are forgivable. I still really want to watch it again in fact.

That sounds amazing.

The Expendables. It was fun, but the fight scenes were all in dark rooms, and poorly edited. The action was all poorly edited, and dark. But still fun.

A friend of mine worked on Puss in Boots. He was the film’s editor.

Haywire. Decent plot. Great fight scenes. Wide shots, and simple cuts that allow you to see the action, and keep it simple so you know what is going on. And finally a woman that has some muscle, and looks like she can kick a man’s ass (yes, I know Gina Carrano was a cage fighter).

I saw a movie called Starcrash. [watch it here]

It actually made sense to me. 4/4 stars, would suggest to friends an enemies alike.

Let Me In

It was pretty cool and there were a lot of disturbing parts in it. I have been meaning to watch the Swedish movie it was based on for a while. I need to get around to that.
