The Last Film You Saw.

pomg torrent is piraci!

Tried watching Act of Valor but 15 minutes in I realized I’m not american enough to last through it so I watched The Woman in Black instead. Which was good.

In the scheme of things the titanic sinking is a small happenstance. Its not so much about the sheer time that has passed but the fact that its pretty inconsequential.

Hatfields and McCoys on The History Channel.

55 million viewers set ratings record for them and the reviews were spot on in their take. It was really, really good.

Just got back from Men in Black 3. On par with the first Men in Black (and possibly a bit better but that just might be my “movie high”). Possibly my favorite scene was the bowling alley scene (at least J picked up the spare!) and my least favorite scene had to be as soon as J got back to 1969’s MIB headquarters after the Coney Island scene and he was trying to act like he didn’t know K after calling him that; I hate when people act stupid like that. Still, a great movie and Josh Brolin as young K was spot on. And that ending with young J, phwew, that was bittersweet but great. And the character Griffin, I thought was going to be this corny annoying alien but he was a great character too… and I loved him at the diner at the end.

It will be going into my movie collection once it comes out on video.

Meh.

Black Rain ~ Shit / 10

So I did a little search of thrillers for ones I haven’t seen yet. Black Rain was certainly one I hadn’t watched before, but it sounded good; Ridley Scott, Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia.

Synopsis; Yakuza kill someone in New York. Douglas and Garcia are cops who have to take him back to Osaka to face justice. Unfortunately the bad Yakuza man gets away and the cops have to find in him Osaka.

I’m a little touchy when it comes to racism, but was it really ok to call Japanese ‘nips’ in the late eighties?
Anyway, Michael Douglas is a pissed off cop who is a complete asshole. Then he goes to Osaka and is a complete asshole there. Andy Garcia doesn’t really have a purpose other than to mistranslates everything Douglas says.

e.g.
Douglas: “I usually like to get kissed before I get fucked”
Japanese Cop: “What did he say?”
Garcia: “Foreplay; he likes foreplay”.

That is essentially all Garcia does for the whole 30 minutes I endured this movie.

Perhaps this was what Western audiences liked to see in the eighties; an asshole cop going to another country and being abusive to everyone there. Red Heat did it in an amusing way. Arnie pretends to be a Soviet, goes to America with humorous results.
That was fun.
This film wasn’t.
Michael Douglas goes to Japan and is a complete cock without any humorous results.

Anyway, it was completely without merit and causing me severe annoyance, so I turned it off after 35 minutes. There simply wasn’t any good reason to continue watching this ass water. It had already fallen into predictable patterns, especially when a love interest was clearly introduced. Yawn.

I read some reviews from people saying that this was Michael Douglas’ best roles. I don’t quite see how; especially since the character was completely one dimensional. I AM AN ANGRY COP AND I WILL BE ANGRY CONTINUOUSLY.
Wall Street, The Game, Falling Down, all have Douglas in a better role.
Avoid this poop.

I saw Black Rain back in the 80s. No one I knew that saw it liked it. You are not alone.

I liked Douglas best in Romancing The Stone.

FUCKING.

GOOD.

THEY DON’T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE.

My ability to recognize old Russian music is once again stimulated.

Costner rox my sox.

Iron Sky

It was pretty cheesy, which I expected, and not in a bad way. The ending just doesn’t fit the tone of the rest of the movie at all though.

Yeah, the ending could’ve been edited better but overall, really fun movie.

RE: Iron Sky

Personally thought it was so bad, although I did laugh at the Downfall reference.

I’ve just realized that I haven’t seen very many movies from the 70’s. Which is probably a good thing. . .

Star Wars, Star Trek, James Bond, Superman, and random Disney movies pretty much cover it.

Well I watched Donnie Darko again. I love that movie. I still don’t fully understand it but whatever. Also watched another time travel movie, Primer. I was kind of following it until it got close to the end, then I lost my understanding.

Relevant

Indeed.

Looks interesting, can’t wait

Hopefully it will answer all of the questions Prometheus left open!

John Carter. An OK movie. Not real great, not real bad, just somewhere in the middle.
