Inglorious Bastards - hilarious as hell even if it made me go “wtf!?” at times.
Then I watched Gamer which was pretty weird but not all that great in my opinion.
Oh yes. What a film. Easily one of the most talented writers currently going (Alan Partridge, Armando Iannucci’s Time Trumpet, The Day Today, what a CV!)
Have you watched the TV series he adapted In The Loop from? If you haven’t, it’s called The Thick of It and it’s fucking awesome. Here’s a taster:
I’ve not, yet, I’m chortling my way through the Armando Iannucci show right now, and then it’s on to The Day Today (or rather, the bits I’ve not seen). I’ve already seen Time Trumpet and most of the assorted Alan Partridge incarnations. Brilliant stuff, really. I love that baldy man.
The last “film” I saw was the Tom and Jerry one where they raced around the world and stuff. Awesome movie. But if thats not a film then it would Iron man. Here are my ratings for them, Tom and Jerry: 9/10 Iron Man 8/10.
Watch his latest films: ‘A History of Violence’, and especially ‘Eastern Promises’. No ‘body horror’ or shocking gore or anything, just fucking great film-making and fantastic performances out of Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn from Lord of the Rings).
A History of Violence was a great movie up until we met his brother. There is no way that I can believe that Viogo Mortensen is related to William Hurt. It ripped me right out of the moment and ruined the rest of the movie for me.
I still watch it whenever it is on, but that scene in the mansion is such a mood killer.
I still need to see most of Eastern Promises.
Transformers Revenge of the fallen.
Great action. Great CG. What I care about.
If I want something with substance I can watch any thriller or drama.
Pressuming that every thriller or drama movie has substance is huge mistake.
Day Night Day Night. Who knew that eating a candied apple could be so tense!
Whereas I like great writing, great acting. If I want something with stunts and CGI I can watch any action movie or blockbuster.
Of course, I’m still living in the ludicrous dream world where it’s not too much to hope for to want substance and artistic merit in my action movies too. Everyone else seems to look at me as if I’m mad if I express a wish for sci-fi blockbusters or big action movies to actually have something like a decent plot or well-developed characters.
“12 angry men”, right now. Awesome.
Where the Wild Things Are
Watching the trailer I thought this was going to be your typical happy fantasy film, well you would with an 8 foot monster community, how i was pleasntly surprised, occasionally dark, occasionaly deep, sometimes terrifing, I loved the hell out of this movie, I want to get the book to see if its equally as good 9/10
Saw it too a while back.
I saw District 9 yesterday.
You gotta be freakin’ kidding me.
Transformers 2 was like sticking large, poisonous needles into my eyes. Extremely painful with a terrible after-effect.
and was it any good? lol
It’s fucking amazing, get it watched if you haven’t.
It was awzum to say the least.
Avatar, yesterday.
It was…Just about the best thing ever.
Yeah, that’s THE movie of 2009 for me. Not Avatar, not Star Trek but District 9. Best sci-fi movie in years.
