Cheers Bean will do when ive got the cash. Would anyone object to a thread dedicated to film translations? (pro and Con) although I can see it being home to some heated debate.
I’m watching Brazil at the moment, because it’s on TV. A rather strange film, but I remember it to be quite good, now I’m watching it, and remembering bits.
.
Step Brothers.
I wonder why Will Ferrel is only a good actor when he plays dorky losers.
The last film I saw and actually sat down to watch the whole thing was Kill Bill Vol 2. I think Bill’s death was extremely unepic.
??? You must be confused… Will Ferrel is never a good actor.
He doesn’t really have to do anything but read lines and look weird. He’s not the kind of person to hire for an acting job.
I thinking after the carnage of the first fillm, and the darkness of the second. A straight out blood brawl would have been kind of lost. Somtimes a somber ending is a hell of allot more powerfull.
I’ve neve seen Brazil but I think it was directected by Terry Gilliam (the guy who did the animated skectes in monty python) and also 12 monkeys which is a pretty dam epic film
Hmm… good point. I guess I was lookin’ for a more gorey ending because as you said there was lots of carnage in the first. The set the bar for gore and I was expecting a explosive ending. I was pretty with the ending anyways.
Except for in Stranger Than Fiction, curiously enough. Almost enough to make you forget about Land of the Lost.
Hey!
Anchorman.
And yes, he was wonderful in Stranger Than Fiction.
Jumanji.
It’s a nostalgia movie, 10/10.
Yeah…
Saw Up last night, loved it!
Which version? There are two. One with a forced happy ending that doesn’t make any sense, and one with a sad ending that was initially intended and filmed and cut but the producers were completely against after watching it.
There’s actually like three or four versions, aren’t there? It’s kind of like Blade Runner, in that way.
It had the the extended dream sequence, then at the very end it cut back to the interrogation chair briefly. And that’s the end. I would guess there’s only one version that they broadcast, the others are the realm of DVD specials?
.
That was the true ending then. Good for you. And I have seen the happy ending on TV in various places. Usually commercial TV. But it isn’t just a simple change of the ending. It is a vastly different movie, with almost every scene cut, rearranged, removed, or added, until the only thing that seems the same is the cast and characters. It’s amazing how different a movie can be just from editing it.
Sorority Row.
It was alright, I didn’t expect it to be spectacular. Basically it was a horror/slasher, you saw the movie for the blood and the scares, not for the absolutely amazing story line and/or acting.
In the Loop. Armando Iannucci is apparently the most brilliant human being alive?
Watched the Dark Night tonight.
And the last 3 nights I watched the Bourne trilogy.
Inb4 shaky cam.
Across The Universe (2007)
Great movie: 4.3/5
Pros: Great music, good acting, the scenes are well done IMO
Cons: In the movie there’s this character named Prudence, she doesn’t get much screen time nor does she even get any back story, you didn’t care about her and she barely gets any dialogue, the movie doesn’t even tell you why she’s there either, so overall, she was a very useless character.
Very good movie, with a 1 big con.
