On any further viewings I mean, which is around the time I hear people complaining about the sequels. The Matrix concept is a one off. You watch it once, you get it, its cool, you move on. I personally come back for the awesome fight scenes.
The first matrix’s fight scenes were shot well. The sequel’s were either too close, in slow motion, or really bad CG.
That’s beside the point though, the first matrix is superior in every way to the sequels. Even the acting is better (which is odd, considering it’s the series’ weakest aspect)
Nah, that’s not needed. That the first Matrix is superior in every way to its sequels has nothing to do with opinion; it’s a goddamn fact. So there’s really nothing to argue about.
I’ll admit the sequels, at least Reloaded, has some really good fight scenes. (Though I particularly enjoyed the highway chase)
But still, for me it’s not enough to top those in the first. The gun scene in the lobby, Neo fighting Morpheus in the construct, Neo fighting Smith in the subway station. The fights just felt more meaningful and convincing
all of you guys talking about children of men (which is an awesome movie) reminded me of gattaca, so i decided to re-watch it after a couple of years of not doing it
man that movie never gets old. so goddamn good and largely underrated imo
Don’t compare original Matrix with its sequels because they’re totally different movies. First was revolutionary because of the plot itself and it was enough to rock the world. But the Wachowski brothers added some stuff to “pimp it out” and made it even more awesome. When the sequels came the plot wasn’t enough because everybody knew what’s it all about (although they did came up with some nice twists). So they decided to make it more epic and I think they’ve succeeded. Many people bitch about the ending but the creators said themselves: first Matrix was about The One’s birth, second about his life and last about his death. Plain and simple…
