The Humble Indie Bundle

For anyone who doesn’t know, there’s a deal right now on 5 indie games that you should consider looking into.

For the next 6 days (starting about right now), you can pay any price of your choosing for 5 indie games and all the money goes to charity.

Here’s the link: https://www.wolfire.com/humble

I’ll definitely be getting in on this, but I’ll need to do some serious cost analysis to determine what I can afford to pay vs what will actually do them any good.

I already have World of Goo and Gish, but the other 3 I’ve never even heard of. I remember that world of Goo ran a “choose what you pay” deal and some people only paid 1 cent, which would have ended up costing the people selling it, since there are both paypal fees and credit card fees to factor into that.

Fortunately 6 days should give me plenty of time to figure it out.

A point to be added is any fans of Penumbra also get another deal with this: Anyone who gets the humble indie game pack gets access to a coupon code that knocks the price of the penumbra collection down to $5 (only valid at Frictional Games store)

Aquaria looks interesting. I downloaded the demo, so I’ll give a try and see if it’s worth it.

how can it NOT be worth it? You can pay whatever you want.

I already had Penumbra, but the other’s looked good so I went and bought it.

I’ll sadly confessed I only payed $7 for it, though. I mostly didn’t want to totally screw them over by paying 1 cent and being a jerk.

Well I’m having some awful money problems right now, so even shelling out 1 buck feels painful. I’ll see about it, I could simply stick to the demo, like I do with Zombie Driver on Steam.

Gom gifted me this earlier, Aquaria looks very interesting indeed but I am unable to download it at this moment in time thanks to ISP issues. :frowning:

$7 is pretty decent, that’s at least $1 each (minus whatever credit card fees there are) Since I already have World of Goo and Gish, and I’ll be spending another $5 on the Penumbra collection, the only games I’m specifically getting from the Humble deal are Aquaria and Lugaru. World of Goo and Gish were part of the Steam Indie Bundle with 10 games for $30 so I essentially got them for $3 each. Unfortunately you’re not allowed to customize which individual developers get your cash, only how much the developers get vs how much goes to which charity.

wow, that was rambling. Basically it came down to $0.50 per developer + $1.25 per charity, so $5 total for the humble games deal

I gave them $4 because I only wanted Gish, World of goo, and Penumbra.

How is this not staying at the top of the page? i would imagine most people would be interested in this at least to SOME extent. Free games, etc.

Bought all five @ $10.00 each.

Choose the “All To Charity” option.

I was planning on that originally, but I figured it was fair to give at least a little bit to the developers to help them out.

Update: Samorost 2 has just been added to the list of games!

BUMP

Samorost 2 has just been added to the list.

this thing seeme neat

Argh, I’m already stuck in Samorost. The confusing thing about it is that you control ‘the environment’, not just your character. Machinarium made quite a bit more sense.

Lugaru seems so awesome to me, and I’m up to a level where I fight 3 wolves; but I just can’t get into it because everything happens at 5x the speed it should. Modifying the config doesn’t seem to have an effect. Oh well.

So far the one I’ve liked most is Aquaria. It reminds me a bit of Metroid, even down to the “kill wildlife because they’re aggressive and in your way” stuff. It even has some pretty damn epic boss fights. A note to developers: If your idea for a game does not include a good, climactic boss fight, give it up because another game will be better.

Final Bump

18 hour warning. Today is your last chance at this deal for 6 great games and to help a good cause.

And I too like Lugaru. Unfortunately the problem for me is that it keeps crashing. Oh well, World of Goo was worth it enough for me. I plan on waiting for my brother to finish the games to play Aquaria so that I can beat it all without interruption.

I gave them 15 bucks. I like that they made these games for Linux because I dual boot.

I would love to contribute and all but I don’t own a paypal account. If only they accepted MasterCard…

You don’t need a PayPal account. Just check PayPal as “preferred payment processor” and continue. You will get redirected to a PayPal form where you can enter the required informations to proceed with your purchase and it accepts Mastercard.

Come on guys, under 2 hours left! If we hit the $1,000,000 mark they’re gonna release the source-code to Gish, Lugaru and Penumbra.

It’s $1,002,203 already, yay
