I prefer, the feeling of overwhelming force, no escape, its good an as normal black fade out. would be nice if you were on a hill or something so you can see everything. also remember the newer models of npc’s could cause your computer to lag like hell?

Personally, what I’d like to see if you refuse the offer is a multitude of aliens (all in the game) from smallest (headcrabs) closest to you followed by houndeyes, then bullsquids, then vortigaunts…all the way up to the largest, the Gonarch, in the extremity of the lighted area.

As you stand rooted there, a headcrab leaps/squawks at the camera (your face) and it cuts to black.

Surely a decent portion of those enemies would be trying to kill each other though. And why would the intelligent enemies like vorts and agrunts be hanging around with a bunch of Xenian animals?

I wonder what leaving it unchanged except for some sound effects over the ending black might do… Still leaves everything up to one’s imagination, but strengthens the hint that you are not going to survive. (The end of the last episode of Blake’s 7 comes to mind…)

Well, I think it should do that dramatic spine tingling sound (not really sure what it’s called or how to explain it) and then suddenly go black…

But the developers probably have their own plans, so it doesn’t really matter

That’s not the ending. It’s obviously the first thing you see when you get to the surface.

I think the idea of “surviving as long as possible” would make the scene very arcady and ruin the mood. Perhaps a better option is to have the front row of grunts march slowly towards you as the screen fades, while Freeman is rooted to the spot with fear. This conveys the feeling of imminent death much better, and doesnt lead to any mad jumping about the room as you try to avoid getting shot.

That’s exactly what I was going to say. That’d fix the “looking at you as if you were a cucumber” thing but wouldn’t ruin the mood.

I think that you should see all the agrunts looking at you,then one running at you with his fist(?) raised and just as his hand is about to come down on you, the others start running at you, then it fades to black.
