The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

It’s cool how even after 100 hours of play I still come across new things.

Today some guy appeared in Whiterun and challenged me to a duel. I’ve never had that happen before.

This was the result.

I have a ton of screenshots of this game that I want to post, but whenever I try to upload them via steam I get an error.

That said, the kill animation you can get with a dragon where you climb onto its neck and drive your sword through its skull, that’s completely awesome. Are there any others like that?

Edit:

That happened to me too, in Winterhold. I eagerly accepted, thinking him to just be some random nord, but it turned out that he was actually a mage, and a damn good one at that. He put up a really good fight and I had to reload a few times.

I’ve actually had so much trouble with magic wielding enemies that my default response is now to get out both of my swords (I’m currently using Dawnbreaker and Chillrend), put on my best armor, and just charge them.

There is one where you climb up on it and begin hacking its neck with your axe or sword.

“It’s not fun if you don’t use magic!”

That asshole tried that shit with me too. He was all like “I want to magic duel you!” and I was all like “I don’t want to magic duel you” and he was all like “fuck that I’m magic dueling” and I was like “okay but I’m using swords” and I stuffed some healing potions in my mouth and pushed the bastard into a barn wall and stabbed him to death.

Hm. I’m not all that happy with my current character due to indiscriminately distributed perks and general carelessness, so I want to roll a new one, but I’m not sure that it’s such a good idea to start over before I’ve even finished the main quest.

Plus I can’t decide if I want to go with 1-handed or 2-handed.

The next character I’m doing is a Connor-type character. He’ll be specialized in daggers and dual-axes (hatchets if I find a good mod). I’ll go in stealth with light armor and a hood with a dagger and a bow for distance. If things go south I’ll pull out my axes and go medieval.

But yeah, as far as I’m aware, you can’t block with dual weapons, so a dual character would want to ramp up health as quickly as possible.

I’m pretty sure that I’ll reroll a heavy armour / archery / sword character soon, but I’m not that sure if I should just go with dual swords or a greatsword. The former would be my first choice, but with my poor performance it can be very confusing to keep up with all the swinging.

I like the idea of a Connor-kinda Dragonborn. Be sure to show pics!

Also, I just became a Vampire Lord. Woo I guess? So I can’t go in first person view when I’m using the vampire lord form? That’s just annoying :expressionless:

If you are looking for the easy way out, go magic/stealth with healthy amounts of enchanting. Don’t start enchanting until you have a stock of soul gems, otherwise you will only get a little ways before levelups kick you in the pants. FORTIFY DESTRUCTION EVERYTHING.

Another thing, I’m using a mod that lets you use dragon souls for perks, it’s really awesome if you have played through the game a few times and don’t want to keep restarting to play a new way.

Sorry, I missed this last time. So that was done without console cheats, but I am using some mods that let me enchant more stuff with any enchantment I want. Not the unlimited rings mod, so there is only so far I can go, but you won’t be able to make this is the normal game.

You could still make a pretty kick ass wodden sword of death though if you tried in vanilla Skyrim.

[COLOR=‘Red’]This may be a spoiler for people who like to figure stuff out on their own, so be warned:

First, you get enchanting to one hundred, and make as much fortify alchemy stuff as you can. Then, get your alchemy to one hundred (more expenisve potions level it faster). Then get your smithing to 100. Doesn’t have to be in any particular order, I just find that is the easiest. all the while, collect grand and black soul gems.

Then, make some potions of enchanting, and use those to make better alchemy/smithing armor. Use those to make better enchanting potions to make better armor, etc until either you’ve had enough or the bonuses eventually die out (the enchanting gains slow after time).

Then make a potion of smithing while wearing your super alchemy(/smithing) armor, and go out and improve weapons of mass destruction.

I tried to use stealth with magic, but it didn’t work at all. Instead, I’ve branched out into light armor and one-handed, basically playing a spellsword. I usually wear just mage robes and enchanted jewelry, but if I get bored or a fight proves to be too hard, I switch into my armor and grab a sword or two. Being able to use swords makes up for the complete lack of cool magic finishing moves.

I’ve attempted to get some stealthy magic in by summoning a bow when I manage to sneak up on someone, but bound weapon spells are loud.

Actually, I’m pretty sure that doesn’t work due to capping; the only way to get crazy potions now is apparently something involving restoration.

The restoration thing came first I think, that’s been patched. It’s not “capping” so much as it is just the percent gain being to low, so that it eventually just stops gaining. If you managed to make a 101% enchanting potion, it would tip the scales over the edge so that you would start picking up % momentum. As it is, even with my mods I think I’ve reached 82% enchanting, and now I’m only going to get a single percent increase for the next level of Alchemy armor.

Personally I would quit now and then reroll. Then you still have some freshness with your new character. If you complete all the main quests with your retard character you’ll just have to grind through them again with your new cool one.

I originally made a character on my brothers computer and played it the few times I came back home to visit. But knowing that I would eventually get it myself when I got a new PC I made sure not to do the main questline and also avoided some of the cities (surprisingly you can go through most of the game without ever having to go to Winterhold)

So when I started up a character on my own copy of the game there was still a lot of fresh stuff for me to discover.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. As much as I’m kinda enjoying the spellsword sort of playstyle, my perks and skill distributions are a complete mess; I’ve got perks in things like dwarven armor smithing and alteration that I only used once, if at all.

Honestly, the biggest thing that worries me about switching is that I might miss my destruction magic and my master robes of destruction.

Well, you could just give yourself the robes with the console, at least :stuck_out_tongue:

It got patched? awww :frowning:
And I’ve been grinding skill levels in enchanting and alchemy for an eternity now.

Good thing both of those skills are extremely useful.

So in case you guys haven’t heard yet, it’s strongly suspected that the next DLC will feature one of the areas of Morrowind, and possibly also Dragon Riding. Awesome.

https://xbox-news.net/2012/10/16/return-to-morrowind-in-next-skyrim-dlc-possibly/

It could possibly be Cyrodiil too, since the landmass is in the maps. This is just a bit of speculation on my side.

I see a tower in the corner… It could be the tower in the Imperial City… Don’t remember what it’s called tho.

The tower is already ingame… Or well, the half of it is.

Yeah, I just saw that, Pyro. Sounds great! Dragon racing anyone? Man, how I wish Skyrim had a multiplayer of some sort :frowning:

Honestly, as awesome as it sounds, I don’t get why they’re doing dragon riding and not just giving you a shout that lets you turn into a dragon. The Dragonborn does have a dragon’s soul, after all, so why not a dragon’s body?

There’s a multiplayer mod. Though of course it has its bugs and glitches.
