the decision

a) .2 Ghz faster Dual core, ddr3 ram, single channel, 2GB limit costs $50 more (ASUS 1215N-PU17-BK)

b) .2Ghz slower single core, ddr2 ram, 4GB limit, $50 less. (Asus 1201N-PU17)

I’m purchasing an extended battery so that is not a concern.

the netbook is still not fast enough for gaming with that CPU, it will run source on medium and online games on very low

I wouldn’t suggest buying an Intel Atom netbook now. AMD is making a very competitive product for netbooks called Fusion. They’re making their way into new products, such as the Fujitsu Lifebook PH50, and if you can hold off on buying now you’ll be able to get MUCH better performance (both from the CPU and GPU, although technically they’re one unit on these new machines) and better battery life.

Yah not looking to replace with a Fujitsu as my previous laptop was an EVEREX (re-branded Fujitsu laptop) They make OK products with sub par components.

As for gaming, I don’t game on my laptops, thats what my PC is for. I’m purchasing this (+the extended battery) as a word and web browser that will always be ready that can also handle HD media.

Go for the second one since you won’t really bring it to its knees with what you’ll plan to do.

* Rule 9:
MAKE SURE YOUR TOPIC HAS A DESCRIPTIVE TITLE!
When we go into a topic entitled, “Hi everyone!” We expect a greeting. When we go into a topic named, “On headcrabs, and their primary attack,” we expect something about when headcrabs attack. Don’t name a topic “Whazzupppp!!!11!oneone!”, then put forth an elaborate suggestion about a topic already discussed to death and expect to walk away lacking scorch marks.

That better?

No.

Everything you do sucks, Fire.

Rule 9 from Outer Space.

To continue our off-topic banter, when the fuck did Fire become mod?

anyways, Been thinking about it for a while now and I think a tablet might be a better option for me. I already draw diagrams on paper and digitize them. I might as well skip a step and jump right to the screen. Sadly from what I can research most of the convertible tablet pc (in the smaller form factor) are a let down.

fire, please make sweet, tender love to me.

to convert my EEE pc 900ha to a touchscreen tablet would cost me 50$ on ebay :expressionless:

@nietzschesaurus Sure, but it wont get you a custom user title. :3

As for the TOPIC, I realized that I was just playing the roll of a kid in a candy store. Finally stepped back and brought my actual priorities to the front. Very good battery life (under normal usage, super battery saver modes don’t count) , portable, can run win7 that is not starter edition well, basic media functionality, and anything more is just extra.

Having pen input would be nice but all of the devices with the above requirements in the price range are sluggish and have lackluster touch encoders.

After all my flip flopping I’m thinking about this one ASUS Eee PC 1215T-MU10-BK

I did a windows reinstall on an ASUS laptop with similar specs, 7 ultimate seemed to run pretty well.
