The Combines

that would be fucking stupid.

If they turned into giant spectral energy beings similar to the telekinesis that they use, that would be cool. Not flies.

no, imagine seeing their transformation happening, it would be awesome

No, that would mostly just be disgusting.

More like none of your opinions on how cool it will be matter. Good day gents.

Especially since it will gladly never happen.

Pardon me for not being able to read minds, since I can’t imagine it being anything other than retarded shit. What could happen? Would they sprout wings & legs & other crap you don’t need when you can already fly & have telekinesis? Maybe a longer proboscis?

LOL, what if they grow into Grubs with 6 legs on it’s back?

But they will transform in some way… The Vort in EP2 said they were about to “hatch”, suggesting that it really might be some form of early life-stage of an Advisor. This doesn’t mean they have to change their physical appearance though…

Edit: Nvmd. The Combine OverWiki tells me that the term “hatch” is most likely a poetic phrase of the Vort to describe the abandoning of the life-support systems and the advisors actually leaving their pods

Still, if it IS an early life-stage of an Advisor, I’d imagine the OverLord be something along the lines of the Gene Worm of Opposing Force, in terms of looks. A giant boss, with a bunch of regular “grub” Advisors we know, and no more than some ten “mid-life” Advisors. Maybe something like partly Gene Worm, partly Advisor Grub?

Of course you’d propably need an army of Vorts to beat that sort of power, but it would be the Overlord you’re againist, after all.

There was going to be a “Juvenile Advisor” at some point, but it was cut.

The texture can still be found in the game files.

Really? Where’d you hear that?

Also that’s horrifying.

It’s possible we haven’t seen the final incarnation of the advisor species. Look at how Valve possibly foreshadowed it: You have antlion grubs which are small and cannot harm you up through antlions and acidlions…into antlion guardians. I wonder if advisors go through a similar kind of metamorphosis intoOHMYGODWHATSTHAT?!

Personally, I’m kinda hoping for an energy being of some sort, maybe composed of the same stuff that appears when they use their telekinesis.

That thing has an ass instead of a face!

If we meet that, well, that’s gonna be the ultimate “OHFUCKWHERE’SMYGLUONGUN” moment.
Also, grubs, Guardians, and Acidlions are also originally cut content. Maybe in HL3, we’ll meet the full Advisor, the Antlion King, and a bunch of Poison/Fast Zombines!

Actually, I wonder if Tau Cannon has been remade (and improved) in the 20 years between the two games, if there’s also a Gluon Gun remake. And I sure hope it wasn’t in Black Mesa East.

I Think a Council is what leads the Combine, They decide what planet they invade next, They Decide when, and They Decide how. After these Decisions are made a group of lesser grubs (Advisor’s) and they take care of invading the planet.

Even Though, there is a possibility that the Combine are lead by one entity…

Not again with the Combine Overlord crap.

Well, Ted Backman called that model “EP2 juvenile advisor” & it wasn’t in the game. You do the math.

It looks like a gigantic tampon

It’s a necromancer! Everyone grab your pitchforks and torches!

Combines are robot things that aren’t robots with ugly faces and sometimes glowing eyes and slave people in the city and make them angry and sad.
Also Combines make people fraid so when you kill them it gives them hop.

In seriousness though, there’s a lot to be explored. When it comes right down to it, considering the Combine empire spans multiple dimensions, what we do see during Half Life 2 and the episodes is a very very small glimpse into the empire as a whole. For all we know the Advisors could be at the bottom of the reigning hierarchy and there might be a much higher race at the center of the Empire.
I’m sure Episode Three will take great strides in answering this question.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
