The Beer Thread: For at the bottom of every pint, there is truth!

besides a lot of expensive b-beer the last few days (as always on festivals) and lovely lángos i’ve come home to this:

Or any of these for that matter.

Yeah I was being very trollish then sorry. But I still stand by the fact it is an acquired taste. But thats not necessarily a bad thing. Computer games are an acquired taste as well

I have not been able to get into beers really as I have stated before. What would you recommend as a ‘noobs’ beer? I don’t seem to be able to stomach fruity beers at all.

Heineken.

Indian Pale Ales are usually a good start, they’re much lighter and tend to have a lower ABV (alcohol by volume, in case they call it something different outside the UK :stuck_out_tongue: ). Try to stick around 3-3.5%, it doesnt sound like much but it’ll stop you feeling unwell if you drink it for the first time. (In the age of spirits it sounds odd, but 6% constitutes a very strong beer)

If you find it too bitter or too strong, ask for a bitter top or an ale top - its beer topped off with lemonade, a bit like a lager shandy. Good for getting the taste

I know its not beer but lately ive been drinking

Captain morgan
appletons
jack daniels
bacardi

(not all in one day though)
alcohol poisoning, loss of memory and damn I puked for almost an hour yesterday, that was terrible, but I actually enjoy hangovers because they let me think faster and clearer due to my nerves going into a hypersensitive state after the alcohol wears off.

I haven’t read all the way through the thread yet but I wanted to post a brew that just came to mind and I found to be my favorite when I was back in North Carolina.

Anyone ever heard or had it?

Edit

Also my favorite brew right now is by the Karl Strauss brew company in San Diego. Red Trolly being my favorite of the three I have seen in the supermarkets. There are a few Karl Strauss restaurants out there one of which not to far away from where I live right now. And they have (I heard) 5 brews one of which changes out weekly or monthly. I would like to hit it up. Has anyone had Karl Strauss at all? Mainly a California brew it seems unfortunately.

Beat me to it Damn!

You’re in one of the few lucky ten states. And I hate you.

Heineken…

Heineken is bad. Very bad.

not really, most beers are about 5.5%. A strong beer is more like 8% or even 12%.

Depends what a person likes - I also like Corona - I like a lot of different beer

There is one from India as well - Can’t for the life of me remember what it is though

Trust a Belgian, I’ve drunk many of your beers

I wouldn’t call it bad, but it has a very anonymous taste (so to speak. Can’t really think of a proper way of wording it), which is why I think it could be a “noob beer”.

Hahaha

I see your Cara Pils, and raise you with a Schultenbrau

Is that the beer they sell in den Aldi? :awesome:

Cara has a pretty fucking good price/quality ratio though. It’s not a very good beer, but it costs practically nothing.
If you buy a case of bottles and bring back the empty bottles afterwards, it’s about €4 for the entire case. On top of that, the bottled version is better than the canned version :awesome:

Also this :3

I can do you one better

No ale drinkers left in here then?

Discovered this this weekend. OH. MY. GOD.

ooo, good call. I love me a good hefeweizen beer. Drop a chunk of lemon in that baby and your good to go.

Isn’t it an orange that’s usually dropped in with wheat beers. Hefeweizen being one, shock top and blue moon are the ones that come straight to mind I’ve seen on tap with an orange garnish. Haven’t seen lemon. Not saying it’s bad just never seen it.
