The Beer Thread: For at the bottom of every pint, there is truth!

I like to keep it simple when it comes to beer:

but recently I’ve become quite fond of these two:

Does that count as beer now?

aye sir it does

Somewhat unrelated, but I have never understood Chilli-Chocolate combinations.

Despite my beer-snob mentality, I do have a few cans of that in the garage :stuck_out_tongue:

I never did either. In fairness it tasted nothing like you’d expect, just a very smooth stout. But I have somewhat reluctantly eaten chilli-chocolate, and my advice is don’t knock it til you’ve tried it - its damn good

cheap beer can be perfectly fine, many of them are quite nasty however. and i’ve quit drinking cans, there’s something about them. carlsberg is in perhaps in the top of the shack among its contemporaries. but it can never take you by storm.
i’m starting to get curious about wheat beer. tried it once years ago and wasn’t impressed. should i pick a few the next time?

Wheat beer’s not bad, I find it quite tangy. Not really my thing, but Hoegaarden is alright, and St Austell Clouded Yellow (if you can get it) is lovely. When you pour it, you can pour slowly and get a clear drink (leaving the sediment), or pour quickly and get a clouded, much more wheaty drink

If there’s a particular flavour you’re after I may be able to help

Recently discovered. This beer is fantastic, especially for the 40+ degree summer.

I think I’ve tried that… I ate in a Japanese restaurant, and had a popular Japanese lager, but forgot the name. Good excuse to try it again I reckon

If its getting that hot I go for Cobra or Tiger. Lovely beers, both Indian I think

Drinking one now as we speak and GOD does it hit the spot. It’s delicious.

so Therapy? begins in less than four hours. and i’m warming up for the festival with (i thought, before i tried it the first time it would be unnecessarily bitter or something, to convey hell, but it’s quite alright, dry:

i also bought these:

as well as another Mikeller Jackie Brown.

A beer called Hell is always a good start :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m flying to Turkey this afternoon, so I’ll be enjoying Efes

A nice local lager, helps people like me cope with the heat

Anyone left in the UK I implore you try this while the good weather lasts

One of the best beers you can buy, a real summer drink. Fruity and flowery, with a scent of melons and peaches to me anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve recently entered the realm of being 21 and I was never much of a beer
person. I find the taste a bit too bitter and dry [confirmed that with a Corona
last night]. I was looking to get some guidance to some sweet ales possibly?
Yes I realize for example the post above me talks about fruity with melons and
peaches but I’m talking in regards of potency.[/SIZE]

America is completely odd… You can drive a car at the age of 16, but aren’t allowed to drink until they’re 21? o_O

Over here it’s 16 drinking age, 18 driving age (well, you can do your theoretic exam when you’re 17).

Anyway, not sure if you can find that in the US, but some delicious sweet ales would Lindemans Kriek (or any Kriek), Rodenbach and various kinds of Lambic.

They assume by having us drive from 16-21 we’ll gain ‘responsibility’ and we’ll be mature with our liquor. <-- lol

I guess the reason over here is “let them drink when they’re 16, by the time they are allowed to drive, their body is accustomed to alocohol so they don’t get drunk as fast”.

Just tried this on 4th of July. Not a beer but it’s still damn good.

Apple Pie Moonshine.
