The assassins

No. They’re assassins, not terrorists.
GTFO.

Too late

:s nicker:

I want Catz to make the assassins shout “ALAHU ACKBAR” and charge at you with 'nades.

moar liek swords

I never had any issue with the cloaked assassins. I would basically set up a couple of tripmines, hide in a corner where they would only attack from one direction, and wait for them to idiotically run straight into a trip mine and kill themselves. Now, if the developers improve the AI so they don’t do incredibly dumb things, THAT would be impossible.

They will surely avoid tripmines if the HECU grunts already avoid them, too.

In fact, on hard, assassins should trap the player in corners by planting new tripmines and THEN opening fire to flush him into them.

Nazi with dinosaurs?

Dang, that’s almost as bad as the time they tore the universe’s temporal integrity to pieces and nearly destroyed the entire universe.

When was that?

On Topic: Only improvement I could think of would be better AI.

HL1: run around, stop to shoot, run around, stop to shoot, run around…
BM: run around while shooting you, occasionaly stopping to get a good aim, more random behaviour.

I’m sure Valve would have originally included these kind of upgrades if their old engine would allow the better AI.

When? I said they destroyed the universe’s temporal integrity. THERE IS NO WHEN.
But in all seriousness, it was in the “Timeline” series of HL1 mods. You should try them.

Oh, and the simple AI wasn’t because the engine wouldn’t let them, it was because they didn’t have that kind of coding yet.

I assumed that once the soldiers were evacuated and the Black ops were sent in they were instructed to kill every living thing including Marine stragglers that missed the evacuation. Most likely because they could escape and tell the rest of the world because they had no superiors with them to make sure they stay quiet like the evacuated marines would. So the assassins kill them to cover it all up. So then the Black ops would be the only people left to tell anyone but they wouldnt because they are loyal to the government.

Assassins in HL1 were fun to kill. Plant a satchel, lure them into attacking, hide behind corner, wait for them to show up exactly were the satchel was planted -->

BOOM!

I found the assassins almost impossible to kill, I would spend ages chasing them, and then they would just dissappear. :S

If you installed that idiotic High-Definition Pack for HL1, the assassins would go invisible most of the time. Like semi-transparent for some reason. That would make them completely impossible to kill. They were hard enough to get even without that!

Oh by the way, are the assassins human? Because when you’re in a map where you have loads of them, you can occasionally hear that teleportation sound, just like when a vortiguant teleports in. So I was thinking that if the assassins really teleport in, then they must be with the aliens. However, in Opposing Force, they’re with the black-ops. Which is kind of strange. Any thoughts?

They are human: The “teleportation” sound is their cloaking devices engaging.

I hope they cloaking ability would be in this mod as well. Btw, have you noticed similarity between assassins spec suits and Crysis nano-suits?
