W+M1?
I some-what disagree with people who think the game is unbalanced, it is actually quite the contrary, the game is so well balanced that each player class has a class that it is either weakest against or strongest against and that they all keep each-other in check to balance out gameplay. The only thing that throws this balance off is the spy, the spy is probably the only class that throws a wrench in the system (invisibility, disguises, one shot instant back stab kills, powerful 6 shot revolver, can take down sentry’s) but the spy has weaknesses (when in disguise he still runs at the same speed as a spy, he does not get healed by friendly heal stations, a relatively small amount of health) so it sort of helps out a little. If the spy is played right it is probably the best class in the game
wow garth, did you even play that game for more than 2 seconds?
Your arguments are invalid, every class has its weakness.
The engie isn’t OP in anyway, don’t know what you’re talking about.
I disagree that the Engie is overpowered.
You’re talking about this in terms of kill count, and not in terms of a team-based shooter. Get over yourself and lern 2 templay.
Garth, you should have stayed gone.
/thread
i feel like a lot of the issues brought up with class balance in this thread can be largely solved by playing on lower player-limit servers with 5-CP maps and no crits/damage spread. generally you’ll find that there are enough decent players for whom campgineering isn’t a major obstacle, and without CTF or payload maps there’s not nearly as much advantage to camping out a single area with sentries (yes that still happens on the final point, but it’s usually much less of an obstacle.)
I knew the verbal assualt would start soon… I’m actually impressed just how long it took the assholes to find this thread.
Anyway, blah blah engie takes skill: list thirty reasons that don’t sound difficult in the slightest. As I said before, spy isn’t really OP in the same sense because to do well as the spy you either have to be pretty damn good or be against noobs. Oh, and I totally suck ass at TF2 which is clearly why I’m at the top of my team if not the entire server almost every other game.
Also, sentry turret nests are not as easy to take out with the spy. Lets look at why. Generally, the other team has at least two and often even three assholes and therefor two to three sentry turrets. Next, engies spy check anyone who gets near their nest especially if one of their turrets gets sapped. After that, the Ambassador is not a one hit headshot. Also if you try to sap the turrets and then backstab he’ll simply repair the turret as you try to backstab him so that you die too, and his spawn is nearer to the turret so he just sets up again before you come back. And of course, with a second engie, as there almost always is, all these strategies go from difficult to near impossible, not to mention all the guy’s teammates also spy checking and ready to kill you if you reveal yourself. Then there’s the fact that any engie with half a brain often puts turrets on second floors that can’t be reached without going through the entire enemy base. As well as being in alcoves that no one ever goes near so if you go near them you will get spy checked all to hell. Then there’s the fact that sentry turrets are often blocking choke points (and finding choke points and placing a turret there is not skillful, in most maps it takes only one play through to easily find the major choke points) that are hard to get around and even harder to get through.
Tl;Dr: 90% of the time it is incredibly difficult to take out an asshole nest with the spy.
And no heavy doesn’t take skill. It’s a fact of life, get over it. Like the heavies that camp on top of medkit spawns. It’s pussy shit. And heavies usually camp choke points move in group or stand against walls all of which makes backstabbing or any kind of sneaky attack incredibly difficult. Same applies to the medic. “hurr durrr I hold button down for ten minutes and then press other button and then me and someone else are invincible hurr durr”. That’s not fun or skillfull. That’s just fucking retarded.
As for huntsman, I generally don’t spam arrows. I take people one on one generally. At long and short range. And I mostly use it to take out heavy noobs. I use it because there’s nothing more satisfying than having a scout jumping in circles around you and then headshoting him on your first try with a foot long arrow.
@joerobot and that’s why I’ve stopped playing CTF, which is otherwise my favorite mode, and switched almost entirely to cps.
Perhaps this should be my strategy for posting on blackmesa: make a thread every once in a while and then disappear once the fucktards find it.
Kill count is just one of the many op things about the engie. It’s just the most quantitative and thus easy to describe part of it which is why I have been using it. How about the fact that he can pretty effectively guard a breifcase with literally ZERO effort and without even risking his own skin? How about the fact that he puts turrets on roofs in sawmill that overlook the enemy spawn so it spawnkills every player on the other team? How about the fact that he can place a turret in a chokepoint and stall the enemy time for a very long time? I’ve been in a game where the other team sucked ass but we spent 10 minutes trying to take the last cp because there were thirty engies placing turrets by the base (please note that my k/d was well over 1 that game and I had the most caps and points on my team). Sure someone coulda gone uber charge, but I’ll leave the boring puss shit like that to my team mates. I don’t want to sit around for ten minutes healing someone or sit around for ten minutes while someone heals me. Kills as well as all these other things translate to astronomically helping the team while using little or no skill.
This thread: I provide long reasonable argument why TF2 is full of bullshit. Retards provide short weak argument and or hurr durr you suck ass therefor your point is invalid.
I don’t even care if it’s unbalanced. It plays fine, I enjoy it, and it takes a vast majority of my spare time. And sometimes I REALLY suck and get pissed off at it, but I always return to it. I’m pretty sure Valve took the time to balance it as best they could, but even if they didn’t, I’ll still play it. If it IS unbalanced, that’s only further incentive to want to get better at it so you’ll be able to kick ass as any class.
it’s because you go against a sentry nest consisting of 3-4 sentries with one spy
can you see the problem now?
reading a bit more through your worthless post, i see the problem!
you’re an idiot.
Fuck off. Multiple spies just increase the amount enemies spy check. And going one spy and one other class is still vulnerable to every single thing I said above and even more so seeing as you also have to rely on the other class to make it there unscathed. Then, once again, as I said earlier in this thread, cooperation is difficult to do correctly, placing turrets down with a fellow engie is not. Strategies and their counters should be matched in difficulty. Using the engie is effortless, stopping him is not.
Reading a bit more through your worthless post, i see the problem!
you didn’t bother to read half of what I said earlier or are to stupid to remember it.
That’s the same whiny bullshit that F2Pers complain about when they play. “Wahhh, engineers are camping their sentries like it was intended by Vavle!” or “Wahhh, uber heavy got into my base”. Suck it up, and if you still don’t like the game, uninstall it. Also, gathering from your bitching, you play TF2 like its just you going after the enemy team, and the other guys on your team are just there. Have you tried coordinating, or at least paying attention, and supporting your team? You would be surprised how easy it is to take out any and all camping enemies if you would actually, oh, I don’t know, play TEAM Fortress 2 with your team instead of running off and going solo like your posts suggest.
I disagree that the Engie is overpowered.
You’re talking about this in terms of kill count, and not in terms of a team-based shooter. Get over yourself and lern 2 templay.
the sentry is only op if the engie cheats and places multiple ones.
if you want to destroy multiple sentries alone as a spy then you’re stupid, you need some support of your team and cooperate.
e.g. get a soldier/demo/heavy and do this together.
this games is about teamplay and not “one vs all”.
do i remember you leaving?
In short, you’re a shitty player who isn’t good at the spy. None of your “issues” are actually issues. If you can’t get off a headshot and another shot anywhere before the engie can remove the sapper, you’re a shitty spy. If it takes you so long to switch to the knife that you can’t manage a backstab before the engie removes the sapper, you’re a shitty spy who needs to learn how to use the Q key. If you think that it’s unfair that it takes more than one player to destroy a nest of 2 or more engies, you’re a scrub and you need to learn better teamwork. If you can’t juggle your cloaks and disguises well enough to get to the second floor of a base, you’re a shitty spy. If you haven’t figured out that it takes enough time for a sentry to turn 180 degrees that you could backstab an engie, then sap, you’re a shitty spy. If you can’t find a way to deal with spy checks, you’re a shitty spy.
All of your complaints add up to you just being bad at the game. Learn to play better.
For someone who claims to be so good at sniping, your complaints are those that are annulled by competent sniping. Which I am not surprised to learn you cannot do. Shoot better, and heavies and medics will die easier.
Also, you’re again proving that you’re an enormous scrub by saying that an entire class is “fucking retarded” down to its core mechanics.
And what servers are you playing on where heavies and medics stand motionless with their backs against walls? Could you give me the I.P. address for them so I can go and rack up 100 kills in one match? Because you’re playing against idiots. And that behavior is a problem for you because, again, you’re a shitty player.
Yes, and someday, when you are a less shitty player, this might actually happen to you. Because if you’re seriously having a problem with stationary heavies, you’re not headshotting scouts.
In short, you’re a shitty spy, a scrub, and bad at coordinating your team. Nothing you said is a problem for competent spies. Hell, even a scout with a can of BONK beats your sawmill problem. Enemy tactics are only as difficult to deal with as you say they are if you’re a shitty player on an uncoordinated team. And a scrub who refuses to take advantage of the mechanics of the games because they’re “cheap”.
Except, the fact that you suck is what makes all your points invalid, since a good player with good teamwork can deal with every single issue you brought up without much hassle.
Sheesh. Everything about you, from the way you talk, the arguments you use, right down to your signature, show you to be nothing more than an unintelligent, arrogant scrub. Learn to play the game better, get over yourself, and stop bitching about game mechanics that have been there since the day the game launched.
Seriously, do what you said you were going to do earlier: leave. Go practice against some bots so you can learn how to deal with basic enemy tactics.
Calling me scrub entirely ignores the fact that I dominate on nearly every server I join.
Anyway, screw you guys, I’ going home.
