tf2 mapping help

Ive been trying to make a map for tf2 for a week or so, and i was wondering if anybody knows how to make bots in hammer .
as in not in game.

You don’t make bots in hammer.

You can spawn them and manipulate them in game using console commands, but there is no AI code in TF2.

but ive been on achievment maps before
and ive seen a row of bots that respawn once killed
there must be some way to do it

I have a feeling it has something to do with an OnServerSpawn relay er sumtin’…

Those are scripts running on the server.

is that hard to do?

Depends. I don’t know about it, but I don’t need to.

If you want bots for playtesting then you’re wasting your time. Really what you need is real players for that.

As has been said, it’s a regular (if custom-made) map running on a server with a bot script on it.

well im making a acheivments map its going to be universal and i need to make a respawning bot thing so people can kill them for achievments. unfortunetly if this is a script i dont know how i will do it. is this bot script prewritten?
if not what language is this? is a dll.?

It’s a script in a *.cfg file. It’s just console commands from the list above I believe. I think you either need to give the servers running the map the script or get your own server.

ok so after i put the commands in .txt file i jsut change the extinsion to cfg?

As far as I know. But I have no idea which commands go where, only codes I know are noclip, sv_cheats 1, pausable 1, pause, impulse 101, etc.

Just what the world fucking needs - another wanking achievements map and another shitting achievement server. You do realise unlockable weapons are handed out randomly now with no need to complete achievements to earn them?

Just use your server to actually have people playing the game and having fun.

I agree with all this. Can’t people just play on a regular server, no mods, server add-ons or badly thought out custom maps. Play as valve intended us to play, end of story.

hello folks im back with in need of some more help. this time it doesnt have anythign to do with server side scripting or anything related to achievment maps… because honestly i cant mention them without everyone voiceing their opinion about this type of map when in reality i only asked about a map problem not a moral or gameplay probrelm. this time its a more hammer based question. im making a map and i have it loaded up, im playing through it and i relise im having purple and black reflective errors show up in the water and on shinny surfaces such as the snipers gun. does anybody know how to fix htis? is it jsut a certian lighting effect/deffect?
(thanks to you who tryed to help me with my problem last time, and didnt just act angry to a bloody question or statement i asked or said)
