TF2 Crashing a lot

My TF2 does there irrational crashes about every half an hour. The game freezes, no looping sound, dumps me to desktop and says that hl2.exe has stopped working. This mostly happens when I’ve finished loading the next map, or on something happening, like über getting deployed, killing someone etc. That also may be coincidence.

It’s not nice. How should I go on about fixing this?

Try reinstalling.

How does your system compare to the system requirements. Even if you exceed the minimum requirements, I’ve had it crash because of lack of ram before. You could try downloading some more ram.

hao 2 dowlod mroe ram??
I’m well over the recommended specs, but I’ll try reinstalling.

So does that ram-cleaner thing actually work? I’m scared to try it.

never , take it to some pc shops to look it through sometimes they do a good job

The Wandering God

Yes. It cleans your ram.

read the disclaimer thingy

You realize your ram is wiped every time you reboot, right?

Yeah but as soon as you start windows it is filled up again with your favourite spyware and adware.

I think you should clean your system, remove all unneeded programs and try some tweaks like heapsize(although valve says it’s not recommended to change it anymore)

After reinstall, still crashing. Could be the skins and shit I didn’t want to uninstall.

do you have something like a dualcore cfg?

Well no, I do have multicore rendering enabled.

then you should remove mini-mod by mini-mod and check if it still crashs

That is the most likely cause. It made my PC bluescreen on me. Try turning that off and see if it helps.

I had a similar issue, TF2 crashing after map change (never when joining a server, just once the next map had loaded and the motd was about to be displayed), and disabling multi-core rendering fixed it straight away.

I wonder what’s more funny, the downloadmoreram site, or the people asking serious questions about it

It does work, try it you’ll see.

Have you tried in the Steam game section:
Right click > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity Of Game Cache?

Beany suggested that to me and it worked. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was the Multicore rendering MAYBE.
