I’ve come across Tetris Classic, which I believe to be the most enjoyable old-fashioned release. 256 colours on a stunning 640x480 resolution make it a joy to play. There are 12 possible audio settings, but I think the MIDI interface works best with most modern hardware and software.
Each level has a different tune for it, and the songs are quite nice (but it doesn’t have the typical gameboy-version Korobeiniki or French Suite No. 3).
