The only mod I have installed at the moment is number 6 in that link - enhanced night sky. It truly looks beautiful!
Play without mods at first, then mod it after you have the vanilla experience for a while.
Does Skyrim actually look this bad or did I do something wrong?
I recall Oblivion’s lake lod from a distance to be so much better. Was running it on ultra in this instance.
You need to increase your LOD a little more.
There’s a tool floating around here somewhere that lets you do that pretty easily.

it basically loads more ‘grids’ = distant terrain and detail. you can go over that 7 number but it turns the game into an unstable mess.

Decided to use heavy armor now that I go in combat more than sneak, and crafted myself a full set of legendary Dragonplate armor. Now I’m getting the perks to make a Daedric sword and upgrade that to legendary.
Anyone know a mod that makes enemies tougher? I’m about to head over to Winterhold to learn about the Elder Scrolls and I’m already a level 37.
Sigh, I’m so pissed! Looking everywhere for a mod that lets me change the splash screen - I would like to use the chickens from the loading screen (the one that shows tips) instead of the dragon logo thingy. Anyone knows where I could find one, or help me change it myself? 
Game kind of does it for you. Draughr Scourges and Deathlords everywhere.
i don’t know exactly how the game calculates random encounters but i just experienced the wierdest “bug” just now. Traveling south to Falkreath, i came to a fork in the road and found a large group of people, all of which i’ve encountered with different saves and chracters.
Maiq the Liar, a traveling group of wedding goers, a victim of desease, a wandering priest, a group of daedra slayers and a traveling bard ALL spawned right on the road at once. i even took a screenshot…before a small flock of Thalmor douche bags slaughtered them all.

i made that post while in game, using the Steam webbrowser. Not two minutes before posting that, i’d taken several screenshots with Steam’s built-in screen capture function. Usually when i leave the game, Steam presents me with a “Which shots do you want to keep?”, window. Unfortunately, Skyrim actually crashed to desktop a little while afterwards and i didn’t get the usual prompt.
is there somewhere that the pictures may have been dumped or are they all gone, un-saved? Either way, i’ll see if i haven’t over-written that save file…
EDiT: Nope. it was about 2 minutes or so before my Dark Brotherhood character last saved. He’s already to Falkreath and several game hours have passed. if dead bodies weren’t such a pain in the ass to move, i’d pile up all the wedding goers and diseased guy and take a new screenie. Also, since Maiq is obviously essential, he survived the slaughter. LOL
