I wasn’t all that excited for this but after seeing some of the gameplay it looks really good. I want to kill dragons ! And something like 300 hours of gameplay :fffuuu: .
Damn wtf my hype for skyrim died down suddenly. So strange as if I don’t care at all anymore.
Nah, I stole your hype.
The wait for november feels like it just doubled.
Horse looks weird. Like a tall, fat pony.
I think its based off a British Shire horse. They do actually look like that.
Hoping for multiple varieties of horses.
Also I think the birth signs at those stones is a good alternative to picking it at start. Beth seems to be doing a good job at lowing the entry level for TES while still remaining as deep as Oblivion. It may not be as deep as pre-oblivion titles but deep rpg elements isn’t why I love TES.
Edit: TY for images, saw 'em on kotaku but kotaku is annoying to save images.
Beautiful screens.
I wonder, will the anime side of the community be so powerful in skyrim, seeing as it is so realistic rather than cartoony?
i was wondering about that too. i actually liked some Animublivion mods. i’m sure there will be texture swaps and shader plugins to get the effect to work. i’m not TOO worried though because i prefer vanilla gameplay on my first few runs anyway.
i wouldn’t say Oblivion looked “cartoony” but it isn’t nearly as “gritty” as Skyrim.

It’ll probably be fine. Most people seem to make mods because they want it not because the game suits it.
not to fuel a console vs pc argument, but the first bit of this made me cry a little

thank god for mods… still looking forward to skyrim with hopes that it will turn out well in the end, but the little red flags are starting to pop up
I want to like TES, but i really don’t like RPGs
Yeah, that’s pretty much how Beth has done things since oblivion. They make a console game and port it to PC. They throw mods in and such but the last few beth games have obviously been console ports.
Its not really an issue, because even with the issues you get from a game being a port the core game is fucking amazing.
Console style ui with a mouse+keyboard is not a problem?
No its not a problem because I care more about the game play than the UI. Sure oblivion UI was shit for a pc but its not like it made me unable to play/enjoy the game. I mean sure its a downside and I wish they would spend more time making it a great port but still. Also I have seen the UI in those e3 vids and as long as they have proper short cuts (m for map and alike) it’ll be fine (not the best but still o.k.).
Well I personally find bad ui to be REALLY ANNOYING.
Protip: Wait til 4 years after games release. Buy Skyrim Cheap. Get best Graphical and UI Mods. Enjoy your bug free, eye-melting skyrim experience.
Ahyup. I get less excited for this thing every day. They might as well just slap a Rockstar Games sticker on it, cause it’s looking like an open world action game. This supports my point:
“We wanted to take it and make it really accessible,” the producer said.“…we wanted to make it so that you could pick up the controller and play and it was easy; the average person could get into it…We knew we wanted to make the user interface a little bit more open and available … get away from the stats and things like that.”
I’ll still buy it, and I’m sure it’ll be fun, but I’ve been playing Bloodlines all this week and it really reminded me that it is possible for first person RPGs to both be fairly accessible AND not treat you like a fucking idiot.
The funny thing, is I never played Xbox games, so the UI in oblivion never bothered me at all. I know alot of people hated Oblivion’s UI, but I’ve never really figured out why.
Console ports are really the only thing we are getting these days anyways. I’m not bothered or surprised by this.
