TES V announced at last - it's Skyrim!

I feel like I should bother with this because most people seem to read kotaku but

Gotta love the incredibly ignorant comments about the engine.

Gamebryo was never a full game engine, just a framework. Everything else has to be written from scratch.

i don’t like the idea of, “We can change stats on a sword and it will be available to everyone in a few hours”.

Makes me wonder how mods are going to work if Beth can make game changes with automatic updates? i understand that mods simply override the vanilla files but what if they decide to change an item’s id# or reference tag? Some of my favorite Oblivion mods got killed by update patches and i’ve been told the same happened with Morrowind back in the day before Tribunal came out. if my copy of Skyrim can be updated every few hours, how is that going to effect modded gameplay?

See #1.

Damn it, I hadn’t noticed those before. How the hell would a new engine fix bugs created by the devs scripting?

Idiots.

Interview with lotsa infos

Very neat. Nice find Ninja.

For the record I don’t really find any of this stuff. I just check the TES V forums and when I find something good I post it here.

U lie. You gather all this info telepathically and post it here.

O.k. you caught me.

I’m so ready for this game. Finally preordered it. Gonna get myself a map that I probably won’t use. Though the wall over my computer is blank, I could put it up there, and mark interesting locations as a reference.

I started playing oblivion for the first time two weeks ago and now I can’t wait for skyrim. Do you suggest I get morrowind too?

While Morrowind is a great game, I probably wouldn’t recommend it for people who only started with Oblivion, as the combat system is very different, since it’s based on a dice roll instead of whether you actually hit the enemy or not and, because of it, it’s very frustrating at the start, since you’ll hardly be dealing hits even on the weakest enemies until you start improving your skills.

In a nutshell I just wouldn’t recommend Morrowind to people who like good gameplay.

As an RPG

Morrowind > Oblivion

As a game

Oblivion > Morrowind.

Basically which one is better depends on how much you like RPGs. Personally I like morrowind better.

Meh, I preferred Morrowind’s world, Oblivion needed mods before it could compete. However, the fact that it was playable made up for this.

Morrowind was plenty playable. The combat isn’t even bad if you are aware that its a roll system.

Yeah, I’m exaggerating, but it will never be fun for me. I’ve always hated diceroll systems because they seem so arbitrary. If I do something, I expect it to be done in game, not put through a formula and then maybe done if a number is high enough. And it does make magic unplayable for me and range really annoying, I will say that much.
