TES V announced at last - it's Skyrim!

Well, actually my peni- -err- -uhh- “MODS” folder is over 60Gb, but there’s a lot of them in there i don’t use. i’m just as guilty of downloading and using a few of those tasteless Japanese mods, but i don’t keep them in my game anymore. Most of them are character outfits and alternative body mesh mods that i quickly found were all too uncompilable with every other clothing mod i wanted to use.

A lot of them are clothes store mods that add about 50+ slutty outfits and bondage gear. Except there’s at least one or two pair of modest pants in there i want my character to try on. 4Gb later, i realized it wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to get “Skanky McMiniskirt’s Buttplug Beautique” storefront to fit well in my modded version of Chorrol, so i gave up. Most of the time i just modded the bits and clothes i wanted into a barrel someplace and created a new plugin without the storefront.

The other half of mods are huge texture overhauls that either make everything too gritty and dark or make everything too bright, reflective or too bubbly. i found out pretty quick that i didn’t like most of them and the majority of them don’t have installers and pick’n’choose options. Like some that make forests, mountains and swamps look AWESOME but leave towns looking too lived-in and dirty.

if the rest of Skyrim looks nearly as gritty as most of the screen shots we’ve seen already, you can bet your boots of blinding speed i’ll be modding the Hell out of my game as soon as i beat the main quest.

Hopefully modded/unmodded Skyrim won’t crash like fuck as Oblivion does

For mod, thats the modders fault, not the devs, so no, it will crash just as much.

Beyond that, I’ve never had unmodded Oblivion crash unless it was quitting.

I had it crash so much that when I would tell people about the game I would always include “but save often”.

I seem to get lucky with these things then. Nehrim, on the other hand, Jesus Christ that was unstable.

did anyone else play the lost spires mod quest dealieo for oblivion? probably one of the only quest mods i really enjoyed. Tried my hand at modding a little while back and didnt get very far, might try it again whenever i get free itme

Yeah you never knew if the game was going to crash when you entered a new area or opened a door… Game was good though I really enjoyed it.

World was good, but it overused Oblivion style narration styles, i.e. freeze character so they can better watch awkward conversations.

i had my duo of Tabaxi scholars take on the Lost Spires quest line. ironically, they weren’t the muscle-bound fighting type that the guild heads thought they were. They cleared out the dungeons with carefully lead cleaning parties hired through the Adventurer’s Guild. The puzzles and exploration were what i wanted to play the mod for so i used characters that fit that kind of role.

it was quite possibly the funnest and most complete mod i’ve ever played for any game.

On the topic of Elder Scrolls and hardcore roleplay, i just found out the other day that not just one, but TWO of my co-workers play ES games the same way i do. We spent a good hour discussing how we roleplay our characters and compose plan questlines and stories around them.

yeah ik, they’ve been posted before. but i want to repost some of my fave environmental screenshots of Skyrim. It’s beautiful art. and the fact that it’s only a picture and it’s meant to be played and interacted with. i just really appreciate the work and beauty of it. <3

ooo i haven’t seen those before, very nice. though, am i the only one who really thinks their running water/rivers animations and such look realllllly off?

Some of them seem to look a little strange, some of them are really nice.

Whatever isn’t ten out of ten quality though, and I really hate to say it but…

there’ll be a mod for that. :retard:

Is it a river or a road on the 5th picture?

A Creek, to be exact.

While I must say the the textures are not what to be expected from a 2011 game, it more than makes up for it by the game’s art style and regarding the water I’m sure everything will look better when in motion.

elderscrolls.net ones haven’t been posted and I haven’t even seen them before. You get a cookie.
