TES V announced at last - it's Skyrim!

I would also be happy with a contextual HUD. Though I do hope that there is a built in option to turn off hudless/hud or whatever.

Pretty sure the no HUD thing is an option.

There was an awesome mod i used in Oblivion called “Dynamic HUD” or something like that. it basically shows and hides portions of the HUD depending on the circumstances. Your health would only show if it fell below 50%, your magic when you used it, fatigue if below 25%, etc. it’d also show full HUD in battle and hide it while exploring.

I wouldn’t mind if they did something like that, but I would need a HUD of some kind. If the game has some form of a full heal you can do on yourself, I like to wait as long as possible to use it. I don’t expect this game to have that, unless you get your restoration or alchemy skills crazy high. I mainly hated how Fable III did it. At around 50% health, your screen started flashing red. At 1% health, it flashed red with the same intensity and coverage. Bullshit system IMO. If my health is low, and the potions heal me to full, I need to see my fucking health bar so I can maximize my potion’s effectiveness.

Though I would prefer an option to have the whole HUD all the time. And at the very least have it pop in when in combat, and show the compass when exploring.

The whole no hud thing seems cool and all, but for an exploration game, the compass is really useful and important. In TES IV, i wouldn’t have been able to find half of the caves and stuff without a HUD Marker.

Starts with the new version of the elder scrolls theme.

They cover Spears, they will not be in. Perks are not related to levels but instead skills. There are only 3 weapon skills, 2 handed, 1 handed and archery. Things like axe and mace and such specifics are done through perks instead of a specific skill. Meaning if you are good with 1 handed skill it does not mean you can use any 1 handed weapon very well. The world is about the size of Oblivion. Horses/mounts are a “maybe”. Customization is still very specific but there is more prefabs. Most quests are still made by people, radiant story does more minor things or is use for minor details on quests. Magic is MUCH more well magical. The spells and such have are going to feel more like magic in the things they do and they feel. PC will have higher res textures and the UI has had consideration. The HUD is contextual. The gray beard’s mountain WILL HAVE 7,000 steps. Soft level cap. Lots of crafting to do. Companions are confirmed; its taking the route of more but lesser detail rather than only a handful with lots of detail.

Ends with more musics.

Disappointed with no spears!

So its got Oblivion style detail?

They didn’t say anything about world detail, that was about the companions.

Okay, got it.

During parts of the podcast audio, the interviewer kept breathing directly into the microphone like it was right under his nose. i kept thinking it was the rolling bass drums at the beginning of the main theme.
