TES V announced at last - it's Skyrim!

^Ravenholm terrified me the first few times I went through it. Also, Zombies in oblivion were pretty freaky for a while.

Personally, I don’t usually have anything good to say about a live action trailer, but I’ll make an exception for Bethesda. It’s movie quality atleast.

LOL The first few times I came face to face with a zombie I closed my eyes and just started swinging - then made a hasty retreat back out of whatever dungeon I was in. A relative who knew of my inability to cope with the undead thought it would be funny to put a mod on my game where I would have my own pet skeleton named Bob and would occasionally encounter a fifty foot zombie should I ride Anvil way. They are lucky to still be alive. Oblivion has helped me in so many ways.

Honestly they should have just did that in engine with scripting. I hate live action video game trailers just because it perpetuates the stigma that in-game things can’t have cinematic quality of that of movies.

Or, more importantly, it perpetuates the stigma that they need to.

Pretty bad little trailer there, but then, there has never been a good live action trailer.

I thought the last 20 seconds was fucking awesome. the beginning and the rest was stale tho. generic village and generic old beggers scampering everywhere. Reminded me of any other cheap medeival film. but the end was decent with the “skyrim champion” guy and the dragon making that wicked roar.

Yeah especially with everyone looking scared and all…

Do you think Skyrim will run like how Fallout 3 ran as in performance?

Fallout 3 on “ultra settings” produced quite some lag, but I could run it on high settings (with 1920x1200res and 2xAA) with shadows off at a good frame rate.

I’m assuming Skyrim is gonna require alot more power than what Fallout 3 required. I hope I’m wrong.

I hope you are not.

I get your point. If Skyrim is goingto look 20 times better, then it has to require more, yes, but I’m hoping it runs as well as it looks without needing a monsterous machine. Perhaps with their new sexy Creation engine, it’s optimized more efficiently than the engine Fallout 3 used.

The game is ported from the Xbox version so that says a lot… It will probably be the same requirements as fallout 3 but this time the game will look better because they now have a better engine.

And less bugs, please

Fallout 3 was just poorly optimized, and since Skyrim isn’t going to be the next coming in graphics technology, I’m sure it will run better, especially since they are on a new engine. If there were some great graphics features that would require that much more power I’m sure they would have announced them in some way. As it stands, right now it just makes better use of assets to look better, not really a power thing.

Some good combat footage here, I’ve seen some of it already, some of it looks new.

PC requirements are out:

Recommended specs are for High settings, there’s an Ultra setting for more powerful computers.

Well at least I hit minimum…

Looking forward to seeing Skyrim on Ultra. :awesome:

EDIT: Skyrim is 6 GBs? How big was Oblivion? (Mines like, 30 GBs or something stupid like that)

Funnily enough, some open world games aren’t really that big file size wise. Far Cry 2 only needs 4gb and Just Cause 2 is also less than 8 gb.

I guess it’s because they reuse a lot of the same assets and use advanced compression techniques.

I never checked my FC2 folder, that’s surprising.

Before the 30 second mark, i hit the mute button. The kid introducing the video didn’t even get what was new in the video. “Hurr-durr-durr, dual wielding! LOL it are news!”. The new and amazing news was the ice-based Dragon shout. Also, “Derpy derpy doo, what are thoses? Tree people!? Duurrrr! Those are new to the Elder Scrollses!”.

For fucks’ sake, if you’re going to be presenting something in depth or with any amount of detail, do your homework first. …or better yet, find somebody who knows what they’re talking about. Could you imagine some Nintendo rep; “This is Mario. As you can see, he’s wearing overalls. So he’s…like…a mechanic of some sorts that eats mushrooms. Oh, what are these? Stars? Those are new 'cuzz i didn’t see any in the last game, Mario Sunshine. Oh no, our hero is flashing funny colors! No doubt he’s been poisoned by the evil death star thingy!”.

Damn… the requirements are higher than I expected. Well, my dream of running of Skyrim high/max just shattered. At least I think so.
Can anyone make a good guess out of this?
