System Shock 2

In the Dead Space 2 thread we had quite a lot of discussion about SS2, which eventually petered out because the website was down.

Well its now back online. On it you can find instructions on how to make your SS2 game work under modern operating system. This is compulsory reading material guys! You have no excuse!

god damn, what I wouldn’t give for a SS2 remake

you’d think with all the success the Bioshocks have had, Levine & co. would have the money/backing to go back and revisit the greatest game ever, and actually finish it this time around, or do a sequel, though a sequel wouldn’t be as good.

:frowning:

The System Shock license belongs to EA now, believe it or not.

yep, and they went made Dead Space instead, obviously they don’t put much value on it.

Dead Space would be a terrible game if it was called System Shock.

but they are very similar games, Dead Space actually seemed more like a “spiritual successor” to SS2 than did Bioshock.

to me, the fact that EA made such a similar game means they have no intention of using that SS license, and it could probably be had for cheap

Very different games tbh. Dead Space is an action game with horror elements.

System Shock actually fucks with your head and orders it to shit your pants.

Maxey, can I hire you to follow me around and describe things?

Sure, if you’re willing to shell out a grand every hour.

System shock was a game I put in the thread of, " games that deserve remakes " .
It was an awesome game written by the guy who did Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite
( not 2) Ken Levine

Good games, good writer.
Definitly worth a play threw.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of System Shock 2 that isn’t illegal or priced over $40? This is pretty high on my list of “Games that I must play before I die” list, but not sure I want to fork over that much moolah for it…

Ebay, they pop up for much less than that all the time.

The System Shock games are great but I’d much rather see a SS1 remake than SS2. The second game still plays great today, the first one has a terribly antiquated interface. Same with Ultima Underworld. Both franchises are ripe for a reboot, and both are tied up in IP ownership hell.

Worth. Every. Cent.

There’s a series of mods for SS2 that make it look pretty damn good for it’s age. I went for the graphical updates, didn’t want to change the gameplay on my first time through
