But the company had to go under :’( . There’s almost no chance for any sequels…
Errr…go play Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3. They basically helped CREATE the survival horror genre, and are almost identical in general gameplay structure as Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3.
indeed I remember playing it my first time, and I shit myself, When I cam across the First Demon, Even after that, I still could’nt Approach any with out having a heart attack.
Silent Hill 3 & Silent Hill: Homecoming, are good.
I liked Resident evil 5, sure it’s not horror, rather action game, but it has some survivor game features. For example you lack of ammunition in most parts of the game and your melee attack is kindof useless. Specially at the beggining.
yeah, it’s easily one of the most disturbing games ever without shoving it down your throat, the atmopshere and characters creep the hell out of me to the point i just had to stop playing.
If you want creepy, play it.
That’s not scary. That’s just annoying.
Dead Space, Silent Hill 3 (Shattered Memories is looking fine too), Flesh, Condemned, Korsakovia. The Patriarch in Keeling Floor is survival-horrific too.
I remember the mod “Mistake-1” for Half-Life as being pretty scary:

It’s a mod, though, so it’s not going to be very long. I also wouldn’t consider it to be a “survival horror”, just a physiological horror.
i really like Sherlock Holmes: the awakened Shame all the other games in the series are a bit shite. is not really survival horror but its creepy and balls deep in cthulhu stuff
The suffering. Haunted Prison! O_o
Flame me all you want but I still think the level “The Flood” from Halo 1 (imho the only good Halo) was the my scariest experience in gaming ever. The music, cutscenes, and general build up to the flood scared the crap out of me, that said, that was the only scary part of the game for me. Aside from that, well, Deadspace is not scary, an amazing game that almost perfectly pulls of the genre, but not scary, the plasma cutter is just too powerful for your first weapon. The Resident Evil Series is just annoying, as some one else posted, the only fear is that you are going to run out of ammo. The F.E.A.R series incorporates survival in only the most basic sense, however the second game does a pretty good job of instilling at least worry into the player. The first one just felt like Half Life 1 with better graphics and shock horror.
Halo’s not a horror game. And Dead Space scared the crap out of me.
Ravenholm actually scared me the first time I played through Half-Life 2 .
Same
But I couldn’t stop playing. I just had to get through that place. When I saw the light in the end of that tunnel, oh the joy :3
The fast zombies and their ability to reach seemingly unreachable places is what makes that level.
I think I was 12 when I first played Ravenholm, I nearly shat myself when I saw the first fast zombie up on that roof, howling.
Doom 3 scared me a bit. Probably because I was expecting something that would make me shit myself, but I overestimated the game and got scared at the zombies. When I think of it, it’s barely scary.
Close your eyes and shake a bat in a cage, it’s the same experience.
Also, SoaringScout is bad.
