I would love to see improved versions of both uncut chapters finding their way in the actual retail version without any workshop, but i guess that will never happen for whatever reason.
Sadly, since this should be a part of BM just because it was a part of Half-Life.
I didn’t deem it worthy. The team had nothing to do with it. It was a decision made by me entirely. I would prefer for them to be workshop mods, which is why I am doing it like that.
Glad to hear you’re going to add them to the workshop. I was also wondering, how will mod works with the new version of Black Mesa? Can we just enable/disable the map packs from the game’s menu or will we have to move the files manually like before?
I think I do finally understand this decision, but I would hold that the mod served an important purpose, and something really needs to be in the actual, official mod to serve that same purpose. I understand that it would be a bad idea to stick in something that was created as an unofficial patch-up job by someone then unaffiliated with the team, but the issue that that patch-up job was designed to fix really does need to be fixed.
Interesting how you didn’t deam worthy your mods Text, for those parts are among my favorite in Black Mesa. But than again, I understand your decision, it’s quite noble. Also I am really happy that you’ll put them up on steam workshop Can’t wait to see them again!
Text you could always get the team involved and bring it up to the level of the other areas that way it can be part of the game… This uncut is almost a requirement for playing the game. I mean really it shows some nice bits of story in it as well as gives some good game play.
Although Google Translate isn’t very good at translating, he’s asking if Surface Tension Uncut will be ported to the Steam version of the game. To answer his question, yes it will be. There just needs to be a Steam Workshop update so that mods that use over 100 MB of data can be uploaded.
On a Rail Uncut and Surface Tension Uncut will be in the Steam Workshop as soon as the 100 MB limit is removed in an upcoming Steam Workshop update. When that update arrives is unknown.
Can it be released via in parts because there’s a Serious Sam HD Mod that did this called SSHD Extended because of Steam Workshop Limitations? I’m very curious.
I could do this, but STU would be 8 parts and OaRU would be something like 14. I don’t want to have to deal with that - the whole point of the workshop is convenience.
Just be patient - you’ve played it before. It’s the exact same thing, it hasn’t changed since the mod release. I’ll get it done as soon as we’ve finished the workshop rewrite, which is extensive and complicated.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
