Surface Tension Uncut - Re-Adding Cut Areas/Scenes (Expansion Project)

Hi,

Can we have status info about this update and the release of uncut mods ?

Thanks

You know, i like many others will not buy the game if we can’t play it in the length of the original Half-Life about released parts.
If that argument can motivate you, just take it. :stuck_out_tongue:

The feel we have is to have been forgotten since we have no more infos.

The next big patch (Content Update 2) has the new upload tool which fixes the workshop capping issue. When that launches, so does On a Rail Uncut, on the workshop.

The next big patch will also enable players to play Surface Tension Uncut, too.

Uncapped addons? W00t!

Hold on, Sugar! Daddy’s got a sweet tooth!

Wait… an actual official ST Uncut? Like in the actual game?

I caught that as well! TextFAMGUY1’s been hinting at an official extended/reworked version of ST coming in a future update but that’s the first time I think he’s phrased it as definitively as that, and the first time he’s used the phrase ‘Surface Tension Unmcut’ in reference to it.

I’m massively hyped for this update!

Yes. (I think so)

(I hope the levels will be remade as well, and not just copy-pasted from the Uncut project. The dev said some time ago that in order to deliver the full Surface Tension chapter experience, the Uncut levels would have to be expanded / reworked / redesigned / and also bug-fixed, to be on par with the retail game’s quality. And I don’t know if he had enough time by now in order to remake Surface Tension like they wanted in the first place + release it in the upcoming big patch - Content Update 2. We’ll see when the update arrives.)

Hey text btw, for when you start working on OARU will you share it with the community first to test it as a beta like before or will you just straight up upload it to the workshop?

Why do you always write posts as if we/I can’t read them? It comes across quite rudely, even if you don’t intend it as such.

If you want an indirect answer to your question, look back at my long post 2 pages ago.

I have no plans to do any work on OaR Uncut. The ports will go up on the workshop, effectively same as the mod release, and that’s it.

I actually have done quite a few updates to the OaRU maps in the past, since the beta, as I was preparing for a second beta release before I ended up being hired by the team. The issue is, none of those vmfs will compile now on the new engine (different limits, and I’d never tested them when I was working on them). I can’t even remember what I changed as it was so long ago (though it was quite a lot, particularly on B2). It’d be a lot of work to try to to get them working and would also be total guesswork.

It’s entirely possibly I’ll touch them up in the future, once Xen is done and BMS is “closing off”. But I doubt it. I certainly don’t plan on doing so. Gotta move on eventually!

I’m sorry, I wasn’t my intention to sound rude :\

(Yes, I’ve just read it) :[ Okay.

Text, have you updated STU since the mod release? The last time I played through the map with the big parking garage, I had some weird bug where whenever I walked through a door, the area behind me vanished, and when I stood on the other side of the door, the opposite side was gone.

There was also something wonky about the damaged versions of the vehicles, especially the Humvees, that made them only show up as errors. Maybe I’m missing models or something.

I really liked the expanded design of the mod and I’m excited to see how you changed the maps in OaRU, I always got lost in that chapter whenever I played HL, because the areas all looked the same.

If completely redoing everything from scratch counts as updating it, then yes.

OaRU will be put up exactly as it was in the previous mod release. Nothing will be different, it will just be ported to the retail engine.

Is this related to the teased introduction of a new version of the maps to the official release (considering some of your comments, bkdale’s new props and all) or just to the updates you made in the past to the ST Uncut beta but that will not go to the workshop?

He just said redone from scratch.

Don’t know if I should jump for joy or remember 3 pages ago where, text said not to get hopes up. so just going to wait and see.

He doesn’t want to promise anything until it’s mostly certain, game development is flexible, things change all the time, not to mention I’m sure the devs want the next content update to feel exciting, but if they were to tell us everything they have been working on in full detail, the enjoyment would be lost.

Impatiently waiting for the new content release, cause my hat is waiting on Xen (I don’t say Xen is part of the new content update)

So I know the big content update just hit, and I’m sure you are super busy with more important things, but is there any eta on when we can expect 'em to hit the workshop.
