Suggestions for the final Steam BM version

Same could be said about freezer area in Apprehension - if the player is stupid enough to waste HEV energy from a charger that was placed just before it, that is…

That area also should not KILL player. I hate areas like that. That’s another thing that is excellent about Half-Life 1 is that you can finish it with 1 HP.

make the padlock in power up breakable or lock the door some other way

Make the black ops assassin throw grenades in normal and hard. make them throw more common in hard.

move the goddamn houndeye groups back

And make the houndeye jump back too when startled or when it takes damage.
Maybe have two npcs for houndeyes
a npc_houndeye_leader which deals more damage can work.

EDIT: If possible the garg stomp too

move the loading screen between Apprehension and Residue Processing to the pause between the hecu drag and trash compactor

Sounds more like an order than suggestion.

I didn’t mean for the second one to come off like that, but I believe the 10 houndeyes swarming the stairwell in Power Up and the elevator in Lambda Core and the laser powerer in Questionable Ethics is worth a reevaluation.

this

They said that leeches will return as a purely decorative element.

Double this.

Agree, Surface Tension and On A Rail, both. I’ve got them both, and the outside trainyard sequence of Rail is terrific!

Oh, and do something about the targeting controls for the water tower sequence you mention there. Maybe its me, but I find them very unintuitive and struggle with the sequence until I remember how to use them, each time! I think I’ve played through BMS 3 times now, btw.

Please make a conversion of the “Black Mesa Source” mod for “Crysis 2”, as it has more modern graphics (with Light Propogation Volumes, and all).

EDIT: changed the word “mode” to “mod”, for correction of the mistake.

What does that even mean? Did you want them to convert Black Mesa (no Source for reference) to Crysis 2? Because a) you’re wrong and b) that’d be a complete waste of time.

Well, why are you considering a conversion of the mod for Cysis 2 game a mistake if it has more up-to-date graphical capabilities (with DX11 patch, at least)? Though, I do not think that it would be allowed. Still, it was worth the try to post it here.

EDIT: Corrected the sentence I wrote.

Does Crysis 2 have more up-to-date graphical capabilities than the engine the BM team are now using? I certainly don’t know that. And no, I’m sure it wouldn’t be allowed as per their contract with Valve.

I was not aware that there is a contract between the Black Mesa developers, and the Valve Software (I was that naive).

You’re a lot more naive than that, buddy.

Would you care to explain your logic behind the quote (what you said)? What in the world did I miss?

EDIT: It would be cool to see in the game a notebook, into which it would be possible to store (write)

notes.

The goal of Black Mesa was to be up to Half-Life 2’s standards, and provide an experience that would have Half-Life mesh better with Half-Life 2, which IMO is something it has far surpassed.

In order for them to move to CE, to be brief, they would have to remake all of their assets to a higher quality, reprogram everything for the new engine, and learn a totally new engine. THEN they would have to get passed legal hoops, and seeing as they’re already in the works to get Black Mesa sold commercially, it would be a stupid idea to jump ship, especially now.

If you can’t grasp that and why it’s not worth it before even mentioning it, you’re horribly naive. That, or just lack forethought, either of which is forgivable.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
