Suggestions for the final Steam BM version

These are some things I really want to see fixed/implemented in the final BM Steam version, Just my opinion

  • Xen (Which is obviously gonna be included)
  • A fixed Crowbar animation, like the HL2 one or better(this one has a very poor feedback IMHO)
  • Big Picture Mode Support, such as HL2, portal, TF2 in the new update.
  • Mac and Linux Support
  • Maybe an interface more fancy, like the Portal 2 or Left 4 dead one

Correct me if im wrong with something, im not very much into the source engine development.

  1. Most likely, yes.
  2. IIopn is reanimating the whole set. Not official, but just download that when it’s done.
  3. No support yet? I don’t use Big Picture, so I honestly wouldn’t know.
  4. This has been discussed already. Unless Source SDK comes to Mac/Linux with great usability before the devs are done with BM, don’t get your hopes up.
  5. I don’t see any reason why you would want that. The current UI is fine.

From my understanding on the Mac thing there isn’t anything they can do as Mac is only supported with the '09 version of Source, however there’s only mod support with the '07 version.

Is it impossible for them to port the game to Source 2009?

If it was that easy I’m sure they would have years ago.

I thought it was because the Source 2009 development tools were only available for certain “authorized” people

Only people licensed to use the Source Engine, not modders.

Wasn’t part of it also that 2009 didn’t have custom shader support? I seem to recall something along those lines.

Am I the only one who actually favoured the crowbar animation in BM over Illopn’s and Half-Life 2’s? :frowning:

I honestly didn’t mind the crowbar anim in BM. Half-Life 2’s weapons in general felt kinda… “underwhelming” to me, personally.

The only thing that bugs me about the crowbar in BM is that its range is longer than the animation makes it look. I don’t really know a better way to explain this, but it threw me off sometimes (fighting headcrabs off, for instance).

Irrelevant and kill me for this but: Do we have any news on the steam release? I mean it got greenlit ages ago :stuck_out_tongue: I would like to see it on steam with 1 and 2 of the suggestions above!

ST Uncut integrated. If it’s not integrated, at least fix the Garg AI shaking the tower.

Make the garg killable and have the devs set health on it.
Walk feature.

There is no news. The developers are not allowed to give progress on their dealings with Valve due to a non-disclosure agreement.

Yeah! Also that, I believe the surface tension addition along with the Uplink (At least as an Extra/bonus) and maybe a Hazard course made by someone else would make it the definitive version…

In the hopes that some devs see this, I’d like to request a new plug model. IIRC, the one used in OAR for the lift puzzle was the default HL2 plug, which looks too…combiney… for the setting.

That plug model was used for a lot of non-combine things, though.

Apache killable
Nihilanth’s green orb creation will have the strider warp cannon’s warp effects
Ichthyosaur tougher

What do you mean with “Apache killable”? they are pretty much killable if you have the Gauss Gun or the RPG.

Not the ones in Surface Tension. Try spawning one, kill it with the gluon gun. It doesn’t kill it at all, just floating in mid-air casted in flames. The apaches in Surface Tension are scripted to die after taking specific damage. The first one is scripted to move out of the area, the second one will crash to the rocks.

What I meant to say was, the apache THAT YOU SPAWN can be killable.

I’d say make the starting zombies extra weak, or give Barney a revolver.

I feel like it takes too long for him to kill each one.
