- You can make the first guard die from a zombie for a pistol
- Time it right. Attack and avoid when houndeye is still charging.
After meeting the first HECUs after Residue Processing, I expected HECUs to say something like “dafuq ur alive? but we killed him!!!1111oneone” but sadly it didn’t happen. Since HECUs are re-recorded anyway, would you please consider this?
The two guys that dumped Freeman were clearly not supposed to do that. They probably just pretended they never saw him.
That only works on Easy. On Normal and Hard crowbar does smaller damage which is not enough to kill it before it charges, and I think its shockwave radius it too large to manage to avoid it.
But all HECUs were shooting Freeman on sight, so why would they be blamed for killing him?
Unless both the options menu and console are lying to me, that was on hard.
EDIT: Actually on second thought that dev message might be saying otherwise. Can’t believe I skimmed past that. Hm…
EDIT 2: No, tested, it was in fact on Hard.
Orders were apparently to bring him in for questioning if possible. I doubt they’d want their guys to kill the guy that they think has info that they want.
About the houndeyes, I beat BM on Hard, so I mean, I’m sure you can get through it if you try.
They should give player the Glock near the dying guard just before map load, like it was in HL. It looks stupid anyway for him to have it holstered just after killing the zombie (why would he hide it if he was barely alive?) and for Gordon not being able to just steal it from his body.
Maybe they could put the glock there, but once you pick it up it only has 4 or no bullets, would make sense that the guard emptied his mag on the zombie.
On a different note, I hope the devs reimplement the VOX lines and that they’re present for more than just WGH.
I would love to hear things like a few orders here and there, but mainly threats directed to freeman. It could start by simple threats like: “Freeman report to military imdieately” and eventually get worst to: “Freeman surrender imediatelly” or “Freeman do not attempt to escape, surrender imediately” and as well hear orders like “New priority, Dr Freeman must be captured or terminated”.
improve the framerate during the lambda core xen teleport fight
You’re starting to remind me of Maxwell.
Sorry.
I’ll be less bitter, but with a project as incredible as this, problems become more irritating
Hey now, I never complained about no framerates!
It would be interesting to see something like this at the very beginning of the game, just like Calhoun saw Freeman enter the tram in Blue Shift:

That’s why you made an alternate account! LOL
YES. I was thinking about this. Even having it start in a dorm or something would be awesome.
Well, if they don’t put it in officially, someone could always made a mod to do it unofficially. I’d love to see that “Induction” mod get a high-quality remake, and maybe stick it at the beginning of the game, like an “prologue”.
But, these are just some thoughts I have. Ultimately, doing something like that might be really boring to the average player.
yeah optimization is for punks and peasants who can’t buy fucking hadron colliders
In all seriousness though, Black Mesa is impressively optimized. I think at times they just push Source '07 a bit too hard.
That’s partially true actually, why downgrade sth just because ppl have shit PCs. Then grafix among other things would never evolve.
There’s a huge, huge, huge difference between optimzation and downgrading, and it’s kind of a critical dichotomy to mind.
That’s strange. I remember picking up a glock before the first houndeye encounter.
