GOD FUCKING DAMMIT VALVE OUT WITH EP3 ALREADY WHAT THE FUCK IS TAKING SO LONNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG
chill d00d
i think bitching about ep/hl “3” taking so long has gotten almost as old as the wait itself.
Yeah.
(~two weeks until the time between releases of Episode Two and Episode Three / Half-Life 3 is longer than the gap between Half-Life and Half-Life 2…)
And it’s even more sad considering they have been working on EP3/HL3 since 2006
Uh, no, they haven’t. They gave up a long time ago.
They have not stopped working on it, they even say they are working on it. They just don’t say how much work has been done or when they think it will be released
Episode Three’s current development status:
I must say, Valve is good company. But it still doesn’t remove the fact that they are asshole.
Hmm, this is a good Fongism. I like it.
The last HL ended on the most blueballs ending ever and it was six years ago. Every time I think of Half Life’s future I get really fucking aggravated.
I’d take a short summary of the ending in a series of twitter posts at this point.
I wish I could go work for Valve (it’s about 5 miles from my apartment) just so I could find out what’s up with Ep3 and HL3. Of course, I’d have to sign an NDA so I couldn’t talk about what I’d see, but at least I would know and that’s all that matters.
Wasn’t that grub breen twitter thing basically that?
I can tell you whats up with HL. Valve’s leadership structure is flat so people work on what they’re interested in. No one is interested in HL so its taking all 3 people who are actually working on it fucking forever.
It was “fan fiction” from Laidlaw. He didn’t consider it cannon as it was just unedited stream of consciousness stuff.
They have one more year until Half-Life becomes irrelevant to most gamers in the world. At this point it’s a joke not unlike Duke Nukem Forever before its release, hopefully if it comes out it won’t be a joke after too.
It’s amazing how you can exactly quantify it to a year like that. You must be wise beyond your years.
Honestly, as long as the game is good it will be a success. Valve is a fucking huge company, they’ll be investing loads of money in publicity, so everyone will know about the game’s existence.
Not to mention that there are fans who don’t rightly care how long it took once it’s out, me included.
Also, by that logic, only sequels would ever have any success. Just like with HL2, even people who haven’t played or heard of any other HL game will buy it and play it. That’s just how our consumption society works. You and people like you are just being dismissive out of personal feelings of disappointment.
As soon as a new HL is announced, the hype will overshadow all the jokes and anger.
People tend to forget easily.
I just hope it’ll live up to the hype it will most likely get when it’s revealed. Bioshock Infinite got hyped a lot but the gameplay was kinda lackluster (story was worth the wait tho).
