Steam Greenlight. A chance for BM on Steam?

I find it interesting that, of all the games on Greenlight I’ve been through, the one with the most votes is ‘No More Room in Hell’, a Half-Life 2 mod.

There are free mod too. Assumed you own HL2, you can have Age of Chivalry by Steam. I think it could be the same process to Black Mesa. Not sure if Black Mesa team want to do this, and in the end it’s Valve decision.

So there is absolutely no need of Greenlight.

I saw someone attempt to place Grim Fandango on Steam Greenlight and it was removed very quickly. Mods are not being removed as far as I can tell. I think this means that mods are not disallowed.

It would be so convenient if BM could be downloaded through Steam. I suspect that would also give it a natural marketing boost, as well as provide some validation to the team from Valve.

However, they obviously have their own plan.

Course, I’m sure they are thinking about it

Black Mesa has made all the assets them by them self. Thats why it took so long to finish

Hope they will add it couse wilson chronicles is alredy up !

Even still, it uses Valve’s intellectual property (characters, location, plot, etc). I know Valve is okay with this as per the response it’s received from them (they can’t wait to play it), but I didn’t know if they wouldn’t be able to get it on GreenLight because of that.

Wilson Chronicles also uses Valve’s IP being a Half-Life fanfiction of sorts. So I don’t think that would stop it.

I would love to see BM end up on steam’s Greenlight program.

In the end, BM is a mod of HL2 and Source, so it, in the most basic and initial form, should run as HL2 runs, which is mainly through the steam start-up; of course if they already decided not to put it on Steam, they probably removed the steam-like start-up.

Source mods require Steam to work, whether they use HL2 assets or not.

Why is this not being done?

There’s 9 days left. People could make a huge push using facebook and make this the #1 voted game on this new greenlight thing.

There are tons of user mods on there now, Cry of Fear, a bunch.

WHERE’S BMS AT? Its the perfect feather in the cap for your final media push.

Guys! Black Mesa is now on Greenlight! Go forth, and vote!

Fridge, whatever happened to your “OH NOES” fridge avatar? Seeing how all the gang is getting back together for release, I’d love to see that avatar again =D

This game has attained 1% of necessary positive ratings so far!!!

OMG!!! We need a more clearer/ more official thread for this!!! Not sure if the current position/ title of the thread will attract enough supporters…

…and yup! I have already shared on FB!

Long time skulker, brief time poster. Just found this on my Facebook, hence all is going according to plan. I voted. You should too.

I’ll have to find it, or make another one. I think it’s time Zoidberg bloodsucker stopped munching on Farnsworth Stalker’s head for now.

edit: Ahh feels good to be back!

<-- Anyone remember this avatar? :stuck_out_tongue:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
