Starcraft II

Supporting bad business practices ftl.

Oh noes! God forbid! A business trying to make profit? Blasphemy!

Coca-Cola also changed their formula to allow cheaper ingredients so they could sell the Coke for the same price, at a lower cost to make. Is that any different than what Activision is doing? They too changed the formula so they could get more profit for a smaller cost.

If you know someone who bought the game, you can ask them for their guest trial key. Comes with SC2 and gives you 7 hours of gameplay free. My friend got it SC2 so he gave me his so I can try it out.

Also Bolteh you are absolutely right. Not giving your money to a company that produces entirely optional-to-buy luxury items because they are trying to make the most money out of it is a pretty lame boycott. If you want the game, buy it. If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. This is such an uncontroversial issue it’s not worth discussing further.

I have to wait a damn month till I receive it.
Got it with a Dutch gaming magazine, year subscription plus the game for 50 euros.
And since the game alone is 50 euros here, it’s a pretty good deal. But, that does result in me waiting for it for a month.

Playing Starcraft 1 now and Brood War.
I never noticed the Science Vessel had the same voice actor as Mr.Burns. Never realised it when I first played it so long ago. But that ‘excellent’ couldn’t have come from any other.

Bought it today (cheap, it was on sale, it was an impusle thing), but then I realized that I don’t really care for StarCraft, so I’ll just sell it to a friend for the normal price and make a few bucks.

Scamming your friends?

And people say I’m a bad person…

I’d been waiting for this for 10 years, and it really has everything I expected and then some. Also, I’m quite positive that Blizzard plans to release the Zerg and Protoss campaign later. Don’t know why, but meh, Terran campaign is appearing to be lengthy enough.

This is the first episode of a trilogy. Wouldn’t be surprised if the other 2 focus on the viewpoint of the Protoss and Zerg.

Send me your CD key when you’re done with the singleplayer campaign.

Thanks.

The other 2 expansions won’t be full priced, that’s why they’re called expansions. From what I’ve heard, they’ve put an insane amount of work into this title, and it simply wouldn’t be possible to fit it all into one game. I’m not at all into RTS games but I’ll be picking up a copy of this soon for sure.

You almost made me feel bad for a moment there.

But really, he’s getting it for the price he would have to pay at the electronics store, maybe a tad cheaper.

That’s their plan from what I’ve read.

Don’t worry, they’ll probably hire some more studios so Activision can release a new one every year cough Call of Duty cough if it’s successful enough.

I’m not a big RTS fan and mostly play FPS and Racing Games, but starcraft 1&2 are awesome.

Stop making posts I agree with. It’s messing with my mind.

If the campaign is decent, I may pick this up some day when it’s super-cheap.

Those of you complaining about Activision Blizzard are stupid. The merge has nothing to do with development. As far as I know it’s about distribution only.

You must construct additional startup ads!

To be a bit more clear, my comments about the CD key were merely in reference to the OP’s statement. I love Starcraft. The games I’ve been watching since 06/07 have been BMS and SC2. The game is amazing.

I seem to be a bit different than most people here though. I love the competitive aspect, but that’s what leagues are for. I’m in diamond. If you’re new to the game don’t worry, you’ll never play me. Matchmaking has come a long way since early beta. However, what bothers me are bad mannered idiots who enter a game, call you a faggot, don’t respond to glhf, use maphacks and are douches in general.

For any of you wondering about Activision and care to read my own personal opinion, here.

Yes, I wrote an article. I’m crazy like that.

You can’t really boycott SC2 just because you hate B. Kotick-style management. If it’s obvious that Activision’s influence caused them to do something bad, then don’t buy it. (ie, P2P matchmaking) However, if they legitimately made a good game and it’s worth the money, go for it. You’re not ‘encouraging evil business practice’ if nothing fowl is afoot here.

Just like how you obviously should have paid full price for Mirror’s Edge, even if the publisher, EA, keeps remaking the same Battlefield and Madden games every few years.

Activision didn’t even publish SC2. The company itself is Activision-Blizzard, but the game has been in development since before the merge happened, and I’m fairly positive that Activision had almost no input whatsoever on the game’s development. People who are boycotting the game just because Blizzard is even vaguely associated with Activision are idiots. Katana’s right, if a game is legitimately good, buy it, don’t boycott it just because they’re merged with a bunch of dicks.

EDIT: Huh. My 1,000th post actually had some meaning behind it. I’m proud of myself.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
