Sprint?

On to the subject. It would make more sense for gordon to sprint n’ gun cuz really he is just jogging with his suit making his life much easier. Notice how you always see the HECU stop crouch/stay standing then shoot because they lack state of the art tech to do all the work for them obviously giving gordon a major advantage. Not to forget about the jump assist, high imact armor, built in medical aid, flashlight, and the captain obvious alert system that lets you know “Emergency! User death imminent!” a mere moment before your demise. Now only if it could project what gordon wants to say. hmmm… now im being off topic. Yeah, so I doubt it’ll be worthy of adding. Good thought though!

The main thing with sprinting in hl2 is pretty not much realistic!
First, you are running more fast than a normal human. It may be a HEV-power but please make it slower, it is just to change one variable, you can even do it with the console!
Secondly: you don’t feel that you run, the camera don’t move much more than normal speed.
Thirdly: you know when you get a ridiculously big gap in front of you that you must jump over with a combination of sprinting and crouch-jumping it just not seem that realistic that Gordon really can do that!

Actually Gordon is a highly trained runner, he also doesn’t climb the ladders but makes a wallrun on them. :freeman:

your mum just not seem that realistic

You seem to be terribly confused…

If you think of the speed itself and not the feeling you find out you are running much faster than any person normally would!

no

The only reason you think the running is weird is because Gordon’s arms dont move, thats what makes running seem awkward.

Except that they do, and have done so since HL.

They don’t move as if you’re sprinting.

Drasan you’re a fucking idiot.

That’s all I have to say.

My parents got me this keyboard and I hate it so much. They removed the arrow key bank to make room for irrelevant keys on the left end that aren’t comfortable and are way worse for gaming (angling it away from your hand? seriously?).

Im guessing you are referring to my merc keyboard. Sorry its uncomfortable for you. Yes the game paf keys are slightly angled, but its not extreme and I have no problems; I find it very comfortable. Besides, I never play with my hands prefectly stright anyway, they are always slightly angled. And what do you mean they “removed the arrow key bank”? There are two separate arrow key banks on my keyboard, one in the game pad and one within the num pad.

The weapon swaying back and forth does not count. Id bet that if you ran with a weapon in real life you would probably fold and hold it against your chest (as if you are carrying something), but since this is a game you have to aim at all times. This is why the sprinting seems awkward.

I think the real reason sprinting is awkward is because you sprint at nearly 18 miles per hour, and regular running speed is about 11 mph. It’s even worse in HL1, because you’re always sprinting.

That’s what I tried to say, but I got totally ninja’d!

Care hooking me up with this sweet in-game-speedometer you used to get that figure? Sounds awesome!

I hope you realize that your previous post has zero value, anyone can make up numbers…

In real life when you sprint with the barrel of your rifle pointing down. Less hazardous. Just a side note

False. I beleve wen u shoot teh weponz u see his fingrs and gluvs…

And what about the part where Gordon is being dragged to the trash compactor by the soldiers in Apprehension?

I’m not at any point attempting to insult you in any way but I think that’s it obvious that aiming a firearm in the same direction your face is (up) is always a bad idea, unless you know, you’re suicidal.

In Half-Life 2, the players hull height is 72 units tall(& so is barney) because all of the human characters use a scale of 1 foot as being 12 units, or 1 unit equals 1 inch. (As opposed to the maps & props which use a scale of 1 foot = 16 units.)

From what I can find on the valve wiki, speed is given in map-units(i.e. inches) per second. To convert that to miles per hour, just multiply by about 0.056818. The player movement speeds according to the dev console (& cl_showpos for crawling speed) are:

HL2_normalspeed 190 (10.795455 mph)
HL2_sprintspeed 320 (18.181818 mph)
HL2_walkspeed 150 (8.522727 mph)
crawl-speed 63.33 (3.76875 mph)

There. That’s how I figured it out. I don’t need some “in-game-speedometer” to figure out what’s going on. In fact, it took me longer to explain than it did to figure out. Start up a treadmill, see if you can walk 8.5 miles an hour for more than a minute (without a HEV suit)
