Sprint?

This is just an Half-Life 2 modification, therefore, it won’t be on continuous run for Black Mesa like Half-Life?

Yup.

gordon is so transparent , he can look into his own anus

actually, that’s not entirely true. In Half Life, you moved normally at your upper speed, and the only way you could modify your speed was to hold the walk button down in order to slow down your speed.

In the case of HL2, you had to hold down the sprint button to be able to move faster, and pressing the walk button does next to nothing in terms of affecting your speed.

One thing I found out recently is a nice little toggling script for Half Life and Half Life 2:
alias sprint_t “sprint_on”
alias sprint_on “alias sprint_t sprint_off; +speed; developer 1; echo Running enabled; developer 0”
alias sprint_off “alias sprint_t sprint_on; -speed; developer 1; echo Sprinting enabled; developer 0”

bind “shift” “sprint_t”
just replace “shift” with whatever button you want to use in order to change your speed. No alteration is otherwise needed to get it to work on both HL1 and HL2.

Rather than having to hold the button to slow down or speed up, you just press the button to toggle between the two. This works great for me since I use a PS2 controller + mouse combo to play, but more than that, it means that when you add this into your config file for both HL1 and HL2, both games will essentially have the same speed controls.

If my recollection is correct, devs stated that Sprinting would be infinite in single player mode, so sprinting would work using the toggle between default movement and sprinting exactly the same way that HL1 would work using the toggle between default movement and walking.

if sprinting is infinite , why not always sprint , and a button to slow down xD

On a side (and quite irrelevant) note, in Half-Life: Blue Shift you could walk by holding E… Never checked if it’s the same in Half-Life 1

You can change your controls, so what does it matter? You could walk in Half-Life.

I believe both half life and half life 2 have it set so that when the use button is held down, you move INCREDIBLY SLOW.

Did anyone notice if it increased your accuracy or decreased HECUs ability to hear you?

Um…It does decrease the ability to hear you. It just makes you feel quieter if you crouch.

Haha, I know, right?

Actually at the very end of HL1 you can see your entire lower half in the HEV suit. Also keep in mind that the reason Gordon do all kinds of amazing stuff with sprinting and shooting is the HEV suit. You couldn’t run for crap in HL2 until you got the suit.

Well, you could still run away from the Metrocops, so I guess it isn’t THAT terrible. Gordon must have at least improved his speed after the events in HL1.

Seeing as how your sprinting speed in HL2 is your regular moving speed in HL1, he got worse. The Metrocops are just lazy.

Only if you have the HEV suit, and cheat with “give item_suit.”

So the movement system is taken straight from HL2? I think the HEV sprint thing was put in by Kleiner, shouldn’t it be just like HL1? (I liked the sneaking thing). Now only crouch will be sneak :frowning:

Is your ability to sprint going to be linked to your flashlight? You know, like this?

Hey come on, now you guys are being stupid.

Besides the Sprint, its going to stay as it was in HL. Sprint and flashlight use different reserves.

All i want is walking to as slow as the npcs walk so i can walk along with them. It still annoys me that i have to walk for a bit then stop and start again.

Well, actually, the point is that it’s going to stay the same as it was in HL2:E2 which is when valve introduced the separate power component scheme for the HEV suit on the source engine. BMS is using the Orange Box SDK after all.

It was that way in HL first though, even if they are using the Ep:2 engine. But yeah, technically it’ll be like in Ep:2.

I wanted to know that too, but i guess for those little questions we have the big question thread =]

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
