Source SDK In Xubuntu.

Good day.
I have posted this in the ubuntu forums, but recieved no definitive answer to this question:
I have managed to run the source sdk using WINE, but hammer, (and the other utilities) run only to a certain point. That point is the starting screen. When I load a map (hammer) or model (HLMV), the screen goes dark, and I can only see the tabs/buttons for a few seconds, if I put my mouse over them. The visible tabs/buttons dissapear when I press the 3d/2d rendering window. I’m using Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope (9.04).
My PC specs are: 2gb ram/3 ghz core 2 duo/512 mb nvidia geforce.

If I can get a definitive answer, I will compile a detailed guide on how to get The SDK running in Linux.

Marked One.

Probably better off in the Help and Support forum. [COLOR=‘Red’]Moved.

The issue with Wine is that it is made for more simple crossover between programs, and Hammer isn’t exactly a simple program. To be honest, you’re better off trying to use it in a VM, probably much less of a hassle.

Just a question, does hammer actually use source to visualize the 3d window?

[EDIT] IS there any free open-source VM?

VitrualBox.

Thanks, will look into it.

I’m leaving to boot camp tomorrow, good luck to the devs with the mod, and good luck to the forumgoers in general.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
