It’s very impressive, but the first thing I notice, instantly, is that the bump map of the bricks isn’t showing through the blood.
And no matter how advanced everything else is, that ruins it. It breaks one illusion while trying to make another

Either way, this is still just good ol’ source with a few upgrades.
I just hope it will be as modable as Half life 2 unlike l4d.
Still holding out for the next big jump. I mean they’re holding back because of this survey they’ve been running to see people’s basic specs… But they didn’t seem to give a shit in 2004
luv me some ketchup slapped on brix
If it was brown then everyone would shit brix
What is wrong with the L4D SDK? I haven’t played around in it too much, but I haven’t noticed any restrictions.
Well all the VPK hurdles and AI Director legwork make mapping in L4D almost as much of a chore as doing the scoring entity work for a TF2 map. As a mapper, I’m sticking with the Ep 2 and CSS mapping suites, they’re simpler and quite flexible.
It’s also 'cause I’m not much of a multiplayer mapper.
Plus you can’t make custom weapons or infected or special infected…
Something I’m pretty sure would make for some awesome mods.
Hopefully Source 2 will come out this year or next year, with Ep3/HL3 to launch it.
Yes you can; Portal bundle.
Holy necropost, batman
IT’S A CONSPIRACY PORTAL 2 IS A FRONT FOR ILLUMINATI PROPAGANDA
I KNEW IT!
Source 2001? It’s still considered based around the EP1 branch? What the hell?
All they’ve ever done is continuously update the same engine, so technically it’s based around the original one used to make HL2.
It still has Quake 1 engine code in it, so technically it’s around twice the age of HL2.
HL2 wasn’t even out yet in 2001.
It’s funny, source is probably more similar to the quake one engine than any of ID’s other engines You can even load Q1 maps into HL2 with little changes.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
