Some Photoshop CS5 general help

Hey guys(:
Recently, i’ve been taking a whack on photoshop, for some project for a physics class, and i was pleased with its performance.

I decided that photoshop could be something useful, so I decided that completely learning about how to use its full potential would be very helpful.

So im asking you guys for two things.

One: How do i create two seperate windows with an image in each? I want to crop something from one image, and drag it to the other image, but have had problems doing so. If you guys could help with this, that would be great.

Two: Do aany of you know of, or have any important extra effects/tools that you’ve found on the internet (don’t know what theyre called specifically… is it like dlc or something? Correct me if i’m wrong)

If it’s too tl;dr, the main question is: How do i create two seperate windows with an image in each? I want to crop something from one image, and drag it to the other image, but have had problems doing so. If you guys could help with this, that would be great.

Copy.

Paste.

Select Tool

Ctrl X

Click on other window

Ctrl V

I usually make layers for everything, so that I can modify my pic later without starting over.

^Create a layer.

It makes a layer automatically when you paste something.

yea, when i create a new layer, rather than making a seperate window for the new image, it just pastes the new image on top of the background, making things a little harder for me to crop the new image.

Edit: I’ve learned how to create tabs on photoshop, which is jsut as good as windows, so thats ok.

My question now, is how to crop a piece of the image (Using either the lasso, or quick selection tool) and move it over to the new image.
Any ideas?

Haha, that’s like super basic MS Paint stuff ffs.

I had to explain to my mom for 2 hours why double clicking on a link is pointless, and she still does it.

Almost every person I know that’s older than 40 does that.

K i’m back, and i think i have a basic feel over photoshop for now…

@maxey: Yea dude, try using photoshop for the first time. It isn’t as easy as it sounds.

K, so now for the other question. I heard there were downloadable extra tools that canbe used for photoshop. Recommendations on any of the tools would be really appreciated

my dad set windows xp to having files work as links, but he still double-clicks them…

haha I haven’t touched that feature since win98, back when it made the whole OS slower by using web pages to render folders

also OP I dunno it depends what functionality you need to add to PS, most plugins are to add support for certain file types to import/export, others are for additional effects or filters.

Same. It drives me insane, it’s like pressing a button on your phone to answer a call, then pressing it again. WHY?!

dunno if these ones count, i’ll just leave them here
