Social media campaign starts on Facebook

“Lots of text” didn’t read, LOL

This Mod has a lot of hype to live up to. Adding more to it wont help. I know everyone has heard their share of bitching and whining and chances are when (if) it comes out every whiner will play it.

The only thing I have to say is 9 years for a mod? Its not right to have expectations about something that is free but it is also not right to taunt your fanbase for 9 years.

Does anyone remember how long it took Duke Nukem Forever to come out? 15 years…

And some people actually paid for that pile of crap.

This engine was state of the art back in 1998 but technology ages fast. If this mod makes it to 15 years (that is before someone shoots it in the head) it will come and go like a fart in the wind.

Thats my two cents anyway. I’ll still play it when it comes out…

The source engine dates back to 2004, and has been updated several times since then, and you can’t taunt your fan base when you’re doing your best to finish this mod with the limited resources and time that they have.

  1. everyone has already said that
  2. it’s been more like seven years
  3. this engine didn’t come out in 1998

Just so everyone is clear, the “campaign” will not be moving forward. When Carlos posted the screenshots and hinted that there would be more to come, there was some backlash from the community because screenshots were released instead of the game itself. Apparently at this stage, folks want the release and ONLY the release. Nothing else will do.

So what’s stopping you from releasing?

(or, if this question and quote combination displeases you, how about: )

See, this is why we can’t have nice things…

So you went from ‘no more media till the mod is released’ to ‘media campaign leading to the release’ back to ‘no more media till the mod is released’?

No offence but this is hilarious.

There was some backlash in the community because they don’t have enough patience to be left hanging for 2 months.

If the new screenshots were followed by soundtrack release a week later it would have been perfect.

And you would ignore that bullshit and keep doing what you planned. Listening to the fans too much can be harmful.

Sounds like bullshit to me.

What about all the backlash that’s been going on because the campaign hasn’t been going anywhere?

Also, where is this community you speak of? They should have their face punched in.

From what I’ve seen, it’s mostly on Facebook. Every piece of media on the Facebook page has at least 5 people bitching about the mod not being released unfinished.

Nothing, but release? But what about soundtrack? If it wouldn’t release, there wouldn’t be a mod release either :frowning: Or the 2 weeks rule doesn’t work anymore?

I am sure the soundtrack will come when it is time. That is a given. But only because everyone and their mother knows the soundtrack is when the clock starts ticking.

It’s sad that no matter what you folks do there’s gonna always be a group of ragetrolls spoiling your ambitious plans. Don’t worry, you’re not alone

So that pretty much killed this thread, right?

I don’t think this thread could be more dead if it was shot point blank in the face with a shotgun

I’ve seen way more positive comments.

No offense, but this is par for the course. If what CatzEyes93 says is true and the Devs have cancelled the media roll-out campaign, then they’ve handled this in their usual bungling manner.

This makes me sad because when it first started(if noone else remembers, the main page had some extra green text at the top with interesting code) that made it look like there was maybe an upcoming ARG revolving around the new website/forums release and maybe eventually the soundtrack itself, but when the whole Facebook thing was brought in I knew it was gonna flop somehow.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
