Social media campaign starts on Facebook

Man, talk about hype. This media release kickoff has left me more starved for new media then I’ve probably ever been, and I usually do pretty well at forgetting about the mod for a while

I’m doing alright. And as long as I keep convening myself tha- oh fuck who am I kidding? Where’s the media!?

I read in the wiki that you’re not revealing anything on xen until the release, does that include Nihilanth?

I personally want to be surprised how epically badass Nihilanth is going to be, as I am sure the devs feel that way too.

Hello,I just wanted to say that I am looking forward to this mod and that the screenshots you recently released look really good, that is all.

I don’t think it’s so much the fact that they aren’t revealing Xen so they aren’t revealing Nihilanth, because they’ve shown some creatures you, for the most part, usually only see on Xen (Controllers for example) but I think it’s so you don’t know everything about the mod before it’s released. I mean, wouldn’t you like to find out some things on your own in the game? In all honesty, I imagine Nihilanth is gonna look ugly as hell, but I want to be grossed out when I first see him in-game instead of seeing it in a screenshot.

I’m sure it’s all things not seen previous to the Xen levels.

The only thing shown of Xen so far has been the baby headcrabs.

i pesonally like the changes to the bullsquid, it gives it a kind of reptilian intelligence instead of looking like a parrot with indigestion

The only Xenian creatures revealed so far are ones also seen in BMRF (with the possible exception of baby headcrabs). The controller was seen just prior to teleporting to Xen. And the Xen manta rays are seen several times in the facility. Anything specific to Xen is kept on lock down, including Nihilanth. There was one VERY early mock up Xen screenshot that one of the devs made. IDK how to find it, but it was just some quick concept work done by one of the level designers and it never went into the game. Still looked damn good though.

Edit: Here it is

That is very old screenshot.

thats 2 threads Ram has had to re-rail in a space of 24 hours

annoying > :frowning:

so doing my part: I just saw a facebook update that says and I quote:

someone please explain?

Spare us the ass kissing, and the media release was two weeks ago, what else are we supposed to talk about?

I’m sorry, we don’t talk about the social media campaign, it’s a surprise

WE NEEDS OVER NINE K THOUSAND LIKEZ GUYEZ!!! THEN WE GETS RELeAASE.

NINE K THOUSAND, DETS LIEK NINE MILLION OMG !!! DETS IMPOSSIBLE, I HAD IT WIT DIS MOD, AM NOT GONNA DOWNLOAD THIS, BM SUXXX AND YOU ALL SUCK

More like 78 kagillionbillionmillion

Nothing. Use another thread.

While I found the TPS reports thing to be quite funny, I’m sort of in two minds about more media releases.
On the one hand I love the little drips of media that give me an insight into the game, but on the other hand I would have been so much happier to hear that quote for the first time in-game. Now I feel like I’ve lost something I should have experienced first hand.

Sigh… I’m so conflicted. :frowning:
Is there a compromise here? What I liked about the first media release was that it didn’t really reveal anything from a story perspective. This last post about TPS reports, while not revealing any story aspects did let us know about a joke we should have found ourselves.
I know right? Damned if we don’t, damned if we do.

All I’m rambling/attempting to say is that perhaps you could restrict media releases to how stuff works while not showing us where it works in the coolest way. If that makes any sense…

Side note: being banned sucks. I missed you guys!

That’s probably the biggest temp ban list I’ve seen on this forum so far.

So for the next media release, whenever that may be, are you going to stick to screenshots, or is it going to be something with a

bit more “motion”?

Also are you planning on making any new wallpapers to go along with it as well?
