Social media campaign starts on Facebook

Man…I remember when I first played the game and got stuck at the part where you pick up the crowbar and have to break the glass to get to the next section…

My Gfx card wasn’t rendering the glass as think as it was supposed to, so I didn’t think anything of the broken door…I thought there was some other way out of the place but couldn’t find any.

Ended up having to find some video tutorial on youtube just to break some fricking glass… -__-

Well, I’d love to see some screenies of the laser cutting through those…whatever the hell those things were that got tossed into the hallway during the explosion. :3

There has been far worse.

Back when Catz played loose with her mod powers, you’d see bigger lists.

Youtube didn’t even exist when I played the game the first 200 times…

YouTube would have been mind blowing back then.

And it would have been so bad without broadband, even in 320x240 :fffuuu:

I’m sorry if this has been said in the past, and if it has please do just delete it, but I really enjoyed the way you folks handled the media release. I think that it was a good move to use the 20000 likes as a way of not only spreading the word that it was on the way, but also giving people a chance to start up there own interest in the community once more.

I’ve been a lurker for a good long while on the forums trying my best to fallow around the development of the modification through my various older accounts between crashes, wipes moves whatever, but I’ve not really ever posted that much. I thought that this would be a good time to just get my thanks out of the way, even if they aren’t needed.

If there is one thing that I could say that I did not like about the way that it was handled, is the way in which it was announced, it just didn’t seem to do the ‘event’ justice. I don’t know if it was intentional, and may never know, but I think more advertising of it, would have done more for interest in the modification.

It doesn’t mater to me if the modification launches this year, or in five years time, as long as the end product is in a complete, and playable state, which dose the source material justice.

Wishing everyone the best of luck, in there wait for the modification, and its development -John

Everything he said. Have been a long time lurker here too.

I feel like the time between updates is too long. I, as well as many others, figured we’d have a quick flow of updates pouring in and leading to a release following the 20k likes. I remember Ram said that after the next update the updates would come more regularly. So my guess is you guys started the campaign and then realized you weren’t quite ready for the next several updates and are now getting everything prepared before continuing the updates. Wild baseless speculation or moderately accurate baseless speculation?

Lets hope that there will be a new update at least after one month.

Not far off I’d guess. Maybe they were counting on a slower uptake on the Liking side of things. Still, I’d rather deal with media release delays than a regular succession of updates followed by a two month long wait for the game. Also just speculation on my part.

Oh please for the love of god do this! One thing that really irks me is when studios release wallpapers in JPEG format.
Wallpapers would be an amazing release, but please use PNG format.

For what it’s worth, I feel the same way, although that probably amounts to a little under 2 cents

You know what scares me? That this mod probably isn’t gonna be released before I start freshman year in college this spring. That means I’ll either play blackmesa and get mediocre grades, or get good grades and not play blackmesa. Either way I lose. ):

Either way you only think of yourself, as always.

You could do both if you really wanted to

That wasn’t an attempt to bitch about the devs taking a long time, that was just me being annoyed with the simple reality of the fact that by the time Blackmesa is out I’ll probably hardly have the time for it.

So if he thought about everyone else it would be…

“You know what scares me? That this mod probably isn’t gonna be released before we all are busy next spring. That means we’ll either play blackmesa and get mediocre grades, be checking up on BM so much that we end up late to work and fired, or get kicked out the house because the GF can’t stand going to bed alone…“Y U always looking after that dead arse mod rage rage rage”. Either way we lose. ):”

And you’d respond the exact same way…and it won’t change the fact that it took over 10 years and it’s starting to FEEL personal…

I agree on the update’s being too slow… Doesn’t even have to be media or something, just some kind of report on what’s going on. That would keep the excitement of this “social media campaign” thingy alive.

Campaign:

  1. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) a series of coordinated activities, such as public speaking and demonstrating, designed to achieve a social, political, or commercial goal a presidential campaign an advertising campaign

  2. (Military) Military a number of complementary operations aimed at achieving a single objective, usually constrained by time or geographic area[/SIZE]

Just sayin’…

And here we go again…

Had to be Garth the Idiot who started the complaining.

I just made this: https://steamcommunity.com/id/marc2377/screenshot/558694015889095318

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
