No, in that case the egg is still first, since chickens, like all birds, hatch from eggs. The one who LAID that egg, however, doesn’t technically qualify as a chicken since it does not produce said protein.

If the almost-chicken laid an egg, then it would’ve been an egg of an almost-chicken, if that eggs spawns a mutated version of the almost-chicken, making it a chicken, then you have the first chicken. If said chicken laid an egg, then you have the first chicken egg.

Therefore, chicken was first. Because; in order to have a chicken egg, you need a chicken. An egg laid by an almost-chicken isn’t a chicken egg, it’s an almost-chicken egg.
